Cybersecurity doesn’t have a skills shortage.

and that is what’s creating the skills gap.
Women make up just 24% of the global cyber workforce.

Very few tell you how to learn, when to learn, and how to think while learning.
Because cybersecurity isn’t just an industry, it’s a mindset.

This is the roadmap people should be teaching beginners, not a checklist, but a mental model.

1️⃣ Stage One: Build Understanding, Not Memorisation
Short truth: Security+ won’t make you skilled.
Deeper truth: Security+ will teach you the conceptual language of cybersecurity, which is more important than technical depth in the beginning.
Understanding CIA triad, risk frameworks, threat types, authentication models, and encryption basics, these aren’t exam topics; they are the foundation for every conversation you will ever have in cyber.
Don’t study to pass.
Study to understand why security exists.

2️⃣ Stage Two: Make Hands-On Work Your Default, Not an Afterthought
People who build labs learn 5x faster than people who consume content.
