It’s Week!

We’re celebrating the amazing ways our Openreach people give back to their communities.

Last year:
👥 489 of our people registered their volunteering
⏱️ More than 5,000 hours dedicated to good causes

Whether it’s helping out in schools, supporting local charities, or getting involved in projects, these efforts make a real difference.

And we know this is just a snapshot, many of our people volunteer in their own time or don’t always log their hours, so the impact goes even further. A huge thank you to everyone making a difference, you should be proud!

Our colleague Barry teamed up with his local gym Spin Family in Thetford to organise a fantastic fundraising spinathon, supporting:

From setting everything up to taking part in 12 spin sessions, Barry helped make the weekend a huge success.

More than 1.25 million homes and businesses in Wales can now connect to Full Fibre on the Openreach network – around 8 in 10 premises.

Take up is nearing 50%, showing just how popular it’s becoming.

Then vs now with engineer Gary 🚐⚡

We first spoke to Gary about going electric back in 2023. Fast forward to today, and things feel very different:
👉 “It’s just second nature now, charging is part of the routine”
👉 “You see a lot more EV vans out there now”

But the important stuff? That’s stayed the same:
✔️ Smooth, quiet drives
✔️ Reliable for the job
✔️ Easy to manage once you’ve got your routine

Make sure to keep an eye out for anything unusual around phone and broadband infrastructure, especially in parts of Yorkshire and the East of England.

Damage and theft linked to infrastructure crime can cause real disruption for local , and while our engineers work to fix things safely, the disruption can take resources away from other planned work.

Metal theft doesn’t just damage cables, it disconnects .

We’ve partnered with Crimestoppers and European Metal Recycling (EMR Group Limited UK) to help stop it, and you may have seen it featured on 5 News at 5 this week.

The reality across the UK:
🔹 Around 2,000 people in Yalding, Kent lost service this week
🔹 100,000+ customers affected since 2024
🔹 Billions of pounds lost over the past decade

We monitor our network 24/7 and investigate every incident, but we can’t do it alone.

So far they’ve collected an amazing 282 bags of rubbish 💪

This , we’re celebrating the moments that matter most ❤️

Will, one of our External Affairs and Policy team, recently took six months away from work to spend time with his growing family, even travelling to Australia to be with loved ones.

“We took our son out of nursery for three months so we could bond as a family… it was so good for all of us.”

Our family leave policy gives parents up to 52 weeks’ leave, including 18 weeks fully paid, so they can focus on family when it counts.
