Microsoft’s August Patch Tuesday addresses 421 CVEs, including 42 Critical vulnerabilities and three zero-days, with one confirmed as actively exploited.

CVE-2026-68820 is an actively exploited Windows AFD/WinSock vulnerability that could allow a local attacker to escalate privileges to SYSTEM. Microsoft has released fixes for supported Windows versions.

Updates also affect Windows, Microsoft Office and SharePoint. Businesses should review this month’s updates and prioritise the vulnerabilities presenting the highest risk.
