When I knew RAG, it stood for Red, Amber, Green, representing High, Medium, and Low Risk severity; now it stands for Retrieval-Augmented Generation, and it exists for one important reason - to reduce AI hallucinations.
An AI hallucination happens when a model produces an answer that sounds accurate and confident — but is actually incorrect or fabricated.
For example, if you ask: “How do I grow my business?”
A generic AI model may generate 10 impressive-sounding strategies based on patterns it learned from internet data. But ask yourselves the following questions
Which advice applies to my industry? Which recommendations are statistically sound?
Which suggestions are outdated or risky?
Without grounding the AI in your company’s actual data, you’re relying on probability — not precision. That’s where Retrieval-Augmented Generation comes in.
RAG systems retrieve verified, relevant data and inject it into the model’s context to generate responses grounded in real information, all provided in measurable confidence levels. The result is smarter, safer, more reliable AI outputs.
If you're exploring AI for your business, the first question isn’t: “Which model should we use?” It’s: “What data do we have, and how should we use it correctly?”
