Hi everyone 👋

We run a small project that refurbishes old laptops and donates them to hostels and supported housing 🏘️. These devices become vital tools for residents, helping with job applications 📝, online training 🎓, courses 📚, and reconnecting with essential services 🌐.

✨ It’s a new initiative, and so far we’ve donated around 8 laptops. However, we want to reach 100 before the end of the year!

🔒 All data is securely erased using professional software, and we provide free certificates of erasure.

Each laptop gets a full clean and service, often with a new drive installed. We then install a lightweight operating system like Linux 🐧 or Chrome OS 💻 (depending on the hardware) before donating them to those who need them most.

Even if a laptop is missing its charger, has a faulty battery 🔋, or has issues with the keyboard ⌨️ or trackpad 🖱️, we’re still happy to take it, as long as it powers on 🔌. We’re used to working with imperfect machines and can often bring them back to life 💪.

We’re especially looking for older laptops running Windows XP, 7, 8, or Windows 10 that aren’t compatible with Windows 11. These are ideal for refurbishment and donation to hostels, where they’re used for job searches, online learning, and accessing vital services.

We’re also happy to accept newer models that support Windows 11. Many of these are refurbished and resold to help fund spare parts, chargers, and repairs for donated devices 🔧. We also reserve some for students in hostels who need more capable machines for coursework and creative projects 🎨📖.

♻️ If you have any laptops that turn on, gathering dust or are destined for recycling, we’d love to give them a second life 🌱.
