*WANTED FOR TORONTO ANTI-SIKH STABBING*

Police are seeking public assistance to locate a man regarding an anti-Sikh attack on 29th August, in the Queens Quay West and Lower Spadina Avenue area of Toronto (Ontario, Canada). The victim was stabbed in the leg.

The incident is one of several in recent times across Canada reported as anti-Sikh hate, including fatal violence. The suspect is described as 5'6 with black hair, who carried out the attack "unprovoked" and before making "anti-Sikh utterances". The incident is being investigated by the Hate Crimes Unit.

A Slough (Berkshire) man says UK authorities showed anti-Sikh bigotry "from start to finish", after going to police about a violent racist attack by his neighbour. Gurdave Rehsi has complained to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC)

In January 2024 Gurdave (36) and his father Tavinder (64) confronted Peter Hall (no age given) about racism towards the family. Things turned violent, resulting in Hall using a baseball bat to inflict visible injuries on Gurdave. Yet, immediate police reaction seemed to only focus on assault allegations against the Sikh father-and-son, something reflected in media coverage at the time.

Gurdave, who ended up on police tag for allegations from the incident which were all later dismissed, says the case was mishandled by police dismissive of the racist attack. Even in court proceedings, his father was rudely called "Mr Turban".

"Everyone should come and have langar with love"

A new Sikh communal kitchen feed for the public is tackling issues in East London (UK), whilst simultaneously providing seva (selfless service) opportunities for the less abled.

Midland Langar Seva Society are running the service every Wednesday from 7pm at Ilford Retail Park. It is one of several the Sikh charity run across the UK, which has created a network of sevadaars which range from young children to the elderly, of all backgrounds and statuses.

Two-time convicted Sikh genocide orchestrator Sajjan Kumar died this week (20.08.26), and in his last act revealed yet more anti-Sikh hate across India.

Kumar died in Tihar Prison hospital, and was cremated the next day as thousands lined the streets for his funeral in Delhi where he was a Congress MP from 1980-2009.

Kumar was seen leading mobs of Hindus in Delhi to kill Sikhs during the November 1984. However, it took 34-years to convict him, with Kumar then convicted again in 2025, although he was also acquitted of some killings in 2026.

Many Sikhs say he never faced justice. Figures like Kumar are known to get extraordinary prison treatment in India. One Tihar prison officer told media Kumar was a "political prisoner", who had two 24/7 younger-inmate carers with him in his geriatric quarters.

*EDMONTON GURDWARA ATTACKED*

One man is in police custody and two are in hospital following an attack on Nanaksar Gurdwara Edmonton (Alberta, Canada).

Around 5am today (21.08.26) a man described as "white" by sangat (Sikh congregation) entered the Gurdwara during morning meditation, targeting Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the Sikh scriptural Guru. Reports on damage differ.

As sangat (Sikh congregation) apprehended the attacker, two (aged 75 and 51) were stabbed, reportedly with a screwdriver, leading to non-life-threatening injuries. The attacker was recently released from prison and is known to police, local media reports state. Police are yet to release more information, such as a name or motivation.

Sikh groups are demanding action on growing concerns around anti-Sikh hate across Canada. Just this week, another Alberta Gurdwara received violent threats.

A noted Khalistan (free Sikh homeland) activist believes the Indian government assassinated his wife, who was also a community organiser.

Jasvir Kaur of West London (UK) died suddenly in May 2023, amid India's now well documented anti-Sikh transnational assassination campaign.

Her husband Gurcharan Singh has long been targeted by India for his activism, culminating in UK authorities warning him about a threat to his life based on Hindu nationalist threats.

Three other prominent Khalistan activists were assassinated around the same time Jasvir Kaur passed, including Avtar Singh Khanda, a Midlands based activist who died in similar circumstances to Jasvir.

An Indian national security expert also recently stated Narendra Modi's government killed Khanda and another UK activist.

Sikhs from across the UK came to Guru Nanak Gurdwara Smethwick to welcome Bibi Charanjit Kaur this past Saturday, after the respected Sikh figure was previously barred from the UK, even for her son's funeral.

Kaur was presented with a book on her son, Bhai Avtar Singh Khanda, who died of suspected poisoning by the Indian State in 2023. Having been forced to miss his funeral because UK authorities were worried about her impact on sangat (Sikh congregation), Bibi Charanjit Kaur was given a warm welcome by attendees and honoured by the Gurdwara sevadaars (selfless servants).

An estimated 13,000+ Sikh Americans voted in the latest leg of the Khalistan Referendum by Sikhs For Justice, verified by local media of Indianapolis (Indiana, USA).

The democratic campaign gives diaspora Sikhs a chance to vote for-or-against Punjab becoming a free Sikh homeland, sovereign from India. The campaign lead Gurpatwant Singh Pannun was the target of an attempted assassination by the Indian State in 2023, foiled by the FBI.

A petition being handed in to 10 Downing Street was amongst dozens of actions of protest by Sikh groups against the Indian State on 15th August, Indian Independence Day.

A delegation of supporters of the Khalistan (free Sikh homeland) Referendum handed in the petition to the UK Prime Minister's residence to demand recognition of the Sikh movement for a sovereign Punjab. Protests were also held outside the BBC studios against amplification of Hindu nationalist propaganda, as well as demonstrations at India Consulate buildings across the globe.
