🌙 A NEW ART STORY IS UNFOLDING IN MARGATE

Brogan Bertie’s NO MOON TONIGHT (just the light from other people’s windows) is opened at TKE Studios in Margate.

Painted from life, the portraits use quick brushstrokes and flicking paint to capture fleeting moments. Family, loved ones and acquaintances make up the show, reflecting Bertie’s strong desire for connection and deep investment in people. ❤️

The exhibition continues until 1st November, with the studio open Saturday and Sunday, 12pm–5pm.

🌀 Ready For Something A Little Different In Margate?

Sugar, We’re Going Down opens at TKE Studios and runs until 1 November 2026. 🎨 The exhibition by Alex Morante and Enrique López Llamas looks at failure, deterioration, anxiety and disappointment through unusual ceramics and painted sculptures.

The artworks are placed inside a crumpled silver space that feels like a bunker or secret hideout, creating an unsettling atmosphere where something seems about to go wrong. ✨

The exhibition also marks the end of the artists’ six-month stay at the Tracey Emin Foundation’s Victoria House Residency.

Open weekends, 12pm-5pm.

🚂👋 A farewell to a familiar face at Tunbridge Wells West

Spa Valley Railway has sold its former static buffet carriage S69306, affectionately known as ‘Emily’. The carriage served visitors at Tunbridge Wells West station until 2019 and will now move to a new home for onward preservation. 🛤️

The railway said the carriage requires heavy investment, while the same items it provided can now be offered through the shop and other catering outlets. This led to the decision to let ‘Emily’ go, allowing the carriage to begin its next chapter elsewhere.

It’s the end of an era for this familiar carriage.
