Grampian 666 I recently worked on for . Fully restored and back to making a lovely sounding verb.

The 666 is the little scamp child of the 636. They can’t really be compared as the 666 has a different circuit altogether. However is still fully germanium. Crazy how different Grampian went with this saying the 636 was built using stripboard. Look PCBs and headers mental 🤘

Ayup Duck! Waddle it be? A big ol serving of a quacking great Mu-tron III. Not the first on my feed not the last. They’re brilliant and do the auto wah (quack) sound the best. Not just for bassists but for everyone to get down their back, sack and quack 🤘

Writing this is making me think about beer. Mmmm 😋

Nice bit of PCB riveting done on a Binson restoration. The old solder tags go really brittle especially if the Binson rot sets in. Re-doing them makes the re-wire easier. May as well do em if you’re inside anyways 🤘

Here’s a cool one you don’t see everyday. A Rebis Audio RA-401. Pretty cool parametric EQ for the legend .

Power supply was blown when it arrived so sorted that then some standard re-capping to go along with it. Really nice EQ! You can get pretty surgical if you like or just go mental and crank it.

Lovely Grampian 636 restoration I did for recently. I had the pleasure of fixing it up for one of my favourite artists as well, little clue in the riff I’m playing 😉

I’ve restored quite a few Grampian 636s now and built even more. Nice to see an original though!

Question time over here at Max Volume. Anyone actually know why? Were transistors referred as quality back int day? They do look like Qs tho 🤔🤘🤔

Lovely little combo! Both recently serviced for .

The DOD had a reverse log taper pot which someone had swapped for a lin in the past. So I got the correct one and now the rate behaves how it should. The SAD512 was still all good so this thing had to be saved. Not too sea sick but just the right amount of funny tummy, which I like in a chorus pedal.

The WEM ER100 is pretty good for a solid state. Loud, gets dirty and doesn’t need a warm up. Brilliant!

Lovely little WEM Clubman Solid State in for a service recently for !

Cool little amp with a silicon preamp and germanium output stage. AC128 and AC176 complementary pair if anyone’s interested.

After a re-cap and fettling its rocking again 🤘

Rate people. Bit of a different post but just a note to say the workshop is closed for a bit whilst I get married to my lovely partner Alice!

It’s been a crazy couple of years and Ali has always been by my side, spurring me on and encouraging me to “bleep bloop”. (Alice’s technical term for what I do) Without Alice and all you guys there’d be no Max Volume!

I’ll be back in a couple of months ready to bleep bloop and swear at some some broken gear 🤘

Cheers! ❤️

Cool little job I did adding a Mupower board to convert a Mutron III from rinsing batteries. Now just runs off a standard 9V walwart. Niiiiiiiice. You can now come back to your Mutron III not worrying if you’ve turned it off or not.

Lovely little idea saying the original PSUs are hard to find. I disconnected the battery side of the wiring as well as I’ve seen people blowing up the opto putting +18V and -18V instead of the +9 n -9 🤘
