Happy World Space week ☄️

Coding has been an integral part of space exploration since it's inception. Developers are able to map astroids, predict radiation to protect astronauts and provide open source projects with access to “petabytes of Earth science data” to study our home planet.

In fact, last year Microsoft partnered with NASA and announced a number of coding lessons, modules and learning paths focused on space exploration!

When did you last update your passwords?

Password Security is something our Founder, Simon Proctor is incredibly passionate about, which is why we encourage you to take some time to update your passwords and make them hard to crack!

Here are a few tips from us on what you can do:

💻 Stop using your personal data as your password or answers to security questions.

💻 Use a phrase from your favourite TV show, book or film that is longer than 10 characters and add in some numbers and symbols where you can

💻 Instead of setting your mother's maiden name question to her actual name, why not make it your favourite pet or fruit - confuse the hackers!

💻 Most of all, be careful to what personal information your share on social media, anyone can find out a lot of information based on what you share!

About a year ago, we made the decision to re-platform to the programming language "Go".

Go has been around for 12 years and this year version 1.18 came out, including new features, and performance improvements.

Working with GoLang allowed us the chance to re-write the code for various clients, and integrate systems such as queue processing that constantly moves forms into a database, and pushes them into the CRM. Taking the pressure off internal teams.

In the spirit of National Coding week, we spoke to our founder Simon about what sparked his love for coding 👀

"I didn't have a computer as a child and I was always fascinated by games and computers. When I was 15/16, my parents bought me the Amega 1200 and so I used this interest to learn to code in Amos basic and I tried to recreate my favourite game, Pong.

I then studied electronic engineering at uni and found a real love for programming, in specific, the z80 assembly language, funnily enough, the same language the Gameboy was created in!

I spent my evenings learning Pearl through books from Waterstones as YouTube wasn't around, and have never looked back since!"
