"If I'm supposed to change my tone for different social media platforms, how do I still sound like me?"
This was a really interesting question someone asked me recently. And I get it - you're told you need a different approach for each app, so how do you still sound like *you*?!
If you've known me long enough, you'll know I LOVE an analogy, so here was my reply:
Imagine you're at a family gathering... the adults are hanging out in the kitchen, kids are running around in the garden, and the older generations are sitting on comfy sofas in the living room.
Now imagine going and talking to each individual goup, and think about how you'd speak to each one differently. You'd likely talk about different things, your common interests would change, and you might even use a different energy with each group.
But you're still you.
You haven't changed, but your approach adapted to the environment and who you were engaging with.
It's exactly the same with social media platforms - each one is just a different room at a house party.
Which room would you be in, and which social media platform do you think it is? 😅
