📚 A year of work, collected in one place

One tradition I’ve kept since starting D-S-Design Studio is creating an annual portfolio book.

Every April, at the end of my business year, I put together a professionally designed portfolio showcasing the projects, milestones, and achievements from the previous 12 months.

What many people don’t realise is that the process starts long before then.

Throughout the year, I’m constantly collecting:

📄 Print designs
📱 Social media work

🏆 Awards and studio milestones

By the time April arrives, I have a complete snapshot of everything that’s happened over the year.

It’s one of my favourite things to create because it allows me to step back and appreciate just how many businesses, organisations, and people I’ve had the opportunity to work with.

When you’re busy with day-to-day client work, it’s easy to move straight onto the next project without reflecting on what you’ve achieved.

The annual portfolio is my way of capturing that journey.

🎤 Can your graphics perform on the big stage?

Designing for a phone screen is one thing.

Designing for a large stage backdrop, presentation screen, event display, or projection is something completely different.

When graphics are displayed at scale, every detail matters.

A design that looks sharp on a laptop can quickly reveal problems when enlarged to several metres wide.

That’s why large-format graphics need careful consideration:

🏆 Another Webflow milestone achieved!

I’m pleased to share that I’ve officially passed the Webflow Practitioner Certification! 🎉

As Webflow is at the heart of the websites I design and build through D-S-Design Studio, continuing to develop and validate my knowledge of the platform is really important to me.

The certification covers key areas of working professionally with Webflow, and passing it is another way of demonstrating the knowledge and experience behind the websites I create for my clients.

I’m always learning, refining how I work, and keeping up with the tools and techniques available within Webflow — because the platform continues to evolve, and so should the way I use it.

📉 What is bounce rate?

Bounce rate is a website metric that measures how many visitors leave a website after viewing just one page without taking any further action.

A high bounce rate can sometimes indicate that visitors aren’t finding what they expected, or that the website isn’t encouraging them to continue exploring.

There are lots of factors that can affect bounce rate, including:

⚡ Slow loading speeds
📱 Poor mobile experience
🧭 Confusing navigation
📄 Unclear messaging
🎯 Visitors landing on the wrong content

That said, bounce rate should always be looked at in context. Some pages naturally have higher bounce rates depending on the type of content and what the visitor needed.
