“I have been in this hobby for 30+ years. I have gone through more than a few prominent British and US Speaker brands over the years with the latest pair being a technological marvel with aluminium cabinet. I came across Wilson Benesch at fellow audiophile's home during my travels and was impressed with the engineering.

I reached out to Singularity and bought a pair of Cardinals. The service was excellent, very responsive and there was no pressure to buy. My previous speaker was a sealed design as well with similar sized woofers to the Cardinal; I install the Cardinal in the exact spot. My gut feeling is that it would be a good place to start and let the agony/enjoyment of tweaking/placement begins. I am the typical audiophile who feels there's something missing here and there and start looking for equipment changes as soon as something new arrives in the system. With my Playback Designs MPS5-Vitus Signature-Transparent Reference-Cardinal system, I struggle to hear anything "wrong" that require tweaking. I don't have the urge to start moving them around nor looking for different cables, amplifier etc. The sound staging, layering and transparency was breath-taking. I have read reviews on the Cardinal’s praising about transient response. I never really grasped the concept until I heard the Cardinal’s on guitar and drums. It's an aspect that I never heard produced on the dozen or so speakers I have owned over the last three decades.

In my humble opinion, the ultimate test for any audio component is how you are drawn to the music itself and not how well the audiophile parameters it does. One, I am listening to an entire CD and not irritated with some aspect and my listening sessions are longer than before. Second, my non-audiophile Dad visits my home on a daily basis armed with his favourite music to hear them over the Cardinal’s. The Cardinal’s just sound so right in a manner that I have not heard from my previous speakers.

Another installation complete. This one was a somewhat unusual space, but the system was harmonious with the environment - the experience of listening was relaxed and thoroughly engaging.

Having read a review of the Cardinal speaker on the Devialet Chat, (and subsequently read Roy Gregory’s review of the Endeavour speaker (which would suit my room better than a floor standing speaker) I decided to see what the fuss was all about. As I am UK based, I was able to contact Wilson Benesch directly.

Wilson Benesch were very approachable, they brought the speakers to my house, set up the speakers, left them for a week, collected them. Amazing service!!

As for the speakers - I had been using the Magico A3 - maybe too much for my room (see the remark above) but I thought it sounded very good. However, given a few days to warm up, the Endeavours were simply amazing. What struck me most, apart from the soundstage, and the bass (not overblown at all), was that the vocals were so right. Having learned during the installation from the Wilson Benesch representation that the Endeavour has a very minimal crossover design and proprietary drive units much like the rest of their reference line loudspeakers… it was the “lightness” of the sound. I can’t describe it any other way - everything was there but the sound wasn’t heavy (like the Magico’s - but bear in mind they were probably too much for my room), I could listen for hours with no fatigue!!

At the end of the day surely that’s all you want - amazing sound that you can listen to for hours. I inadvertently realised I was air-drumming, foot tapping, just getting involved with the music.

The service was exemplary, the technology state-of-the-art with its carbon fibre enclosure… the human touch was evident.

A nice CH Precision install for a client. Out with the Naim in with the CH Precision.

A huge upgrade, that sounded supreme with the A.C.T. One Evolution P1 & Torus Infrasonic Generator on the end. Nicely put together on a rack.

“Wilson Benesch’s first loudspeaker, the ACT One from 1994, was ahead of its time. A picture-perfect 2.5-way column whose carbon fibre sidewalls were tapering backward – the world had never seen something like this before. Fully loaded with fine ScanSpeak drivers which were causing a stir in the scene back then. To me it has remained the epitome of a Wilson Benesch until that milestone by the name of Discovery came out in 2001, which we reviewed in the third issue of that year. From now on there were two markedly different designs which were to leave a profound impact on Wilson Benesch’s model range until today.the Discovery 2 made one thing very clear from the start: here we’re talking about serious music reproduction, here something is happening between the speaKers.
