I hope you're all enjoying your weekend🍺 A customer wanted to upgrade his original 2011 Windows 7 desktop PC to a more modern Windows 11 PC preserving all his apps and data.

As the PC is used mainly for office, Web browsing and emails, I went with the below spec.

Asus Prime B760m motherboard
Intel I3 14100 cpu
16gb 3200mhz ddr4 memory
Crucial 500gb ssd
ATX midi case with a DVD bay (The customer wanted a DVD drive installed)
Be Quiet 550w psu
Be Quiet cpu cooler
Wifi Card

There's a lot of prep work to prepare the Windows upgrades as it all has to be done manually.

Firstly the original hard drive is cloned and removed just incase😬, the cloned drive is then fitted to the original PC, from here it is upgraded to Windows 8, 8.1 and then 10. Missing any versions, the upgrade will not keep the apps and data👍

All upgrades to 10 were successful 👌, from here the drive is prepared for Windows 11, the file system is converted to GPT from MBR and also configured to boot into safe mode on the next boot to allow Windows to update the Sata IDE driver to Sata AHCI for the new motherboard👍

Once the new PC was built, it POSTED first time😎, the bios was updated to the latest version and my cloned drive temporarily fitted for the next phase. The PC booted into safe mode in UEFI mode with secure boot and TPM 2.0 enabled🥳. From here safe mode boot is switched off and the PC rebooted perfectly to desktop now using the AHCI driver👌.

I then cloned this drive to the new M2 Crucial 500gb ssd, removing my sata cloned drive, again the PC booted perfectly to desktop, lastly from here, the upgrade to 11, all went through with no problems, all the driver and Windows updates applied, Google chrome updated to the latest version and office 2007 was upgraded to office 2021, keeping all the outlook data and email accounts intact 😎

I installed the new PC for the customer who was extremely happy with it, along with all the work undertaken to achieve what he wanted😁

Job done🍺

I hope you're all enjoying your weekend🍻.. I have had a busy weekend building 2 PCs for a local digital creative company.

Both PCs consisted of an RGB PC case with MSI X870E motherboards running the Ryzen 9 9900x CPU with 64gb 6400mhz memory. One build also had a Nvidia RTX5080 graphics card with a MSI PSU. Both had RGB 360mm AIO coolers😎

The hard drives were removed from their original PCs along with their 10G network cards, the RTX3090 was removed from the other PC.

Once built, both PCs POSTED on first boot🥳, the bios was updated to the latest version and booted perfectly to Windows, all the drivers were updated and the RGB software installed. Both passed a stress test too💪

The first PC was built yesterday afternoon and the other today, they've been collected and already installed back at the office 😎

Job done🍺

Happy New Year to you all🥂

I had one of my customer's come to me for a new PC, to be used for music production🎶
The criteria was it needed to run as quiet as possible and also run Cubase with ease. After some research I came up with the below spec.

Be Quiet Silent Base 802 case with interchangeable panels
Ryzen 7 7700x CPU
Crucial 64GB DDR5 6000MHZ memory
Be Quiet 360mm AIO Pure Loop 3
MSI X870E Tomahawk Motherboard
Crucial 2TB & 4TB SSD
RTX5060 Graphics card
Additional PCIE USB card

Once built, the bios was updated to the latest version, the thermals were tested with different fan curves to optimise the maximum temperature from the CPU with the fan speeds. The CPU barely hits 80c under full load with the fans running at 70% speed👌

The 2TB SSD was cloned from the original PC and the music database SSD was also installed resuming drive letter D. All drivers were updated.

I installed the PC for the customer, he's really pleased with the performance and how quiet the PC runs😎... Job done🍺

I hope you're all enjoying your weekend🍺. I had this gaming PC come in as it started to blue screen loading Windows, the customer tried another SSD and installing Windows 11, same problem 🤔

Upon inspection, I noticed the RTX5070 was wired up to the power supply on an adapter only using 1 output port from the power supply and the PSU fan had seized up😬

I started off with a memory test as the PC was posting ok, straight away the memory test failed and maxed out at 10,000 errors, this'll be the problem👍, Identified which module was faulty, luckily 1 of the memory sticks passed all 4 tests over 3 hours🥳, the PC is now running 16gb of memory.

Supplied and fitted a brand new ATX 3.0 MSI 850w 80 Plus Gold PSU, fed all the cables through the back of the case to tidy up the front and installed the 12v 12pin plug directly to the graphics card👍

Updated the Asus Bios by 5 years worth and set it up for Windows 11, including TPM 2.0, Secure Boot and CPU virtualization to enable memory integrity, installed Windows 11 25H2 with the latest Nvidia driver, updated all the other drivers along with Windows updates. Ran a stress test and the PC is perfectly stable, no more blue screens😎.. Job done 🍺👍

I hope you're all enjoying your weekend 🍺, I had this gaming PC come in for an upgrade into a new Corsair case along with a motherboard, cpu and memory upgrade 😁, the hard drives, graphics card (RTX4080) and AIO cooler were removed from the old case👍

The upgrade consisted of a Ryzen 9 9900X cpu, an Asus TUF X870 motherboard and 64GB of 6400mhz DDR5 memory, what an upgrade!😎 The AIO radiator and fans were caked in dust, these were thoroughly cleaned before installing 👍

Even now after near on 30 years building PCs, I still get a squeaky bum when it's powered on for the first time.. Will it POST?😆 Sure enough the PC POSTED on first boot😎, the memory was overclocked to it's spec and these new Asus motherboards have an AI overclock function to give the cpu a little boost, we'll enable that too👌

The original hard drive was running Windows 10, I cloned it before wiping it for a fresh install of Windows 11, there was just over 900gb of data on there, the clone took just over an hour, high peaks of 28gb per minute! 😯

Windows 11 25H2 was installed along with all the driver updates and Signal RGB to control all the fans and memory, the data was restored including Google Chrome and the saved passwords, the user download folder was mapped to another drive.

This PC flies and the CPU boosts up to 5.6ghz, what a machine!.. With secure boot, TPM 2.0 and memory integrity enabled, this PC is all geared up for Battlefield 6👌.. Job done🍺

I hope you're all enjoying your weekend 🍺👍, this has been the weekend for screen replacements and broken hinges🤦‍♂️.. I had two separate jobs come in, the first was a touchscreen Lenovo, this one had the hinge snap off the backlid as it had seized up😬, to fix, the backlid and hinges needed replacing, this is a big job as the screen assembly has to be removed carefully as it's glass along with the removal of the camera, lid magnets and the digitizer circuit board, slow and steady wins the race with this one, then all transferred to the new back lid with self adhesive strips before fitting the the replacement hinges and screen assembly. The heatsink and fan had quite a bit of dust .. no problem for my new dust buster tool💪 Also applied fresh thermal paste to the cpu.. The second was a Dell Inspiron with a cracked screen, a lot more straight forward to replace.. applied heat to remove the bezel and screen, fitted new self adhesive strips to fit back the new screen and bezel.. Job done.. Time for a beer🍺

I hope you're all enjoying your weekend 🍺.. I had this gaming PC come in as it would blue screen on every boot🤔.. I noticed the memory indicator LED on the motherboard was staying on for a while before the PC would POST, also the memory overclock had been set to XMP not EXPO as this is a Ryzen 5 7600x CPU👍Corrected this and ran diagnostics on the memory which passed, I also updated the BIOS which did improve the POST time, removed the WD SSD and scanned it's integrity, this also passed, however the drive did not have a drive letter assigned and it wasn't partitioned as a system drive, this'll explain the boot problem🥳.. Ran my SSD up on the PC and it updated perfectly and was stable on a CPU and GPU stress test. Backed up the data on the WD SSD, reinstalled Windows 11, with the updates I got a blue screen💩! These WD SSD's can blue screen on Windows 11 24H2, thankfully there was a firmware fix🥳.. Updated the SSD firmware and it ran perfectly, all stress tests were run again and it is now stable 😎.. I also noticed the RGB wasn't working on the fans, the last cable on the daisy chain wasn't quite long enough to reach the motherboard header🤦‍♂️.. Luckily enough, in my box of goodies, I had an extension cable, wired this in and installed SignalRGB to match the colours to the GPU😎.. Job done🍺.. Turnaround time.. within 24 hours 👍

I hope you're all enjoying your weekend 🍺, I had this Lenovo Legion 5 gaming laptop come in as it would lag down to 7fps playing a game, becoming unresponsive🤔.. It had already been to someone else for the same fault, they replaced the thermal paste and ssd, same problem occured 😬. I ran a bench test, immediately after 5 minutes the frames would drop down to 7, the cpu wasn't hot, so I knew it wasn't a throttling problem. However the cpu speed had dropped down to 400mhz and would remain locked at that speed. It's a faulty power stage on the cpu, it would need a motherboard replacement 👍, Sourced a new motherboard with slightly higher specs, a Ryzen 7 and GTX1650TI as opposed to Ryzen 5 and GTX1650👌.. Fitted the new board and tested for a couple of hours.. the frames remained over 100, even up to 200 on some settings 🥳, cloned the original ssd to the new one and updated all the driver's along with Windows updates.. Job done🍺👍.. Feedback from the customer is the frame rate is now better on the games than before!😁

I hope you're all enjoying your weekend 🥵🍺.. I had this desktop PC come in for an upgrade along with an upgrade to Windows 11, originally running a ryzen 5 1500x, with 4gb of 2400mhz memory and a gtx1070ti graphics card, I was given a budget to upgrade the components.. I went with a Ryzen 7 5700x cpu, 16gb of 3200mhz memory, a be quiet CPU cooler and exhaust rear fan, a 650w Corsair power supply and an RTX3060TI graphics card👌, before upgrading, the bios was upgraded to the latest version to support the new CPU and the graphics driver completely uninstalled, once the components were replaced the bios was configured and the DOCP enabled for the extra memory speed.. The PC booted perfectly to Windows and upgraded flawlessly to 11😎. The latest graphics driver was installed. The CPU and graphics card were stress tested for 2 hours, with no faults.. Job done 🍺
