An early, but lovely start to the day!

Every month I used to go to All About Business Doing Business event organised by Karen Woodcock. A lovely, informal business networking event in Newport for local businesses. The only downside was the 7:30 am start!

As my calendar got busier, networking events were one of the first things to drop, so I haven’t been to this for at least 12 months. But I was there today!

Some familiar faces, but lots of new connections. Well worth it, and a nice reminder that networking is so important, no matter what size your business.

We’re doing it! 😊

A couple of months ago Sally-Anne, Louise and myself met up with a shared goal to create a business networking group in Eccleshall. We hosted our first meeting as a trial last month to test the water, and today we hosted the first of our regular monthly meetings.

A room full of local business owners, each armed with enthusiasm, and some with gifts in the form of homemade cakes and gourmet chocolates - thank you Simply Scrumptious Cupcakes and Compare the Bank. Darren from FortuneHart gave us a great talk about the wonders of Making Tax Digital, which helped a lot of people in the room.

I really am buzzing. So many connections were made between like-minded people with small businesses in Eccleshall and it was so lovely to see.

We weren’t sure if it would take off, but we’ve had around 50 guests across the two meetings and 100 members on our page.

See you all at the next meeting on Tuesday 19th May 😊

Yesterday I spent the day at Fordhall Farm Shop planning ahead for our Christmas campaign.

The shop is closed on a Monday so it gave us the perfect opportunity to work through ideas with a clear head. Spending the day surrounded by so many lovely artisan food products is just great!

Working through your marketing campaign for Christmas ahead of time is so important. It gives you the time to think through what you want to promote and how best to get noticed. How to connect with your customers in the best way and to create an impact.

It's a great feeling when you know you're creating a plan which works and will make a difference! You can then identify any gaps you'd like to address ahead of time and get things in motion to avoid any last minute panic.

Taking good food photographs is as much about the styling as it is about the lighting and camera skills.

In this photo I took time to gently layer all the different fresh fillings to ensure everything was visible and enticing with lots of textures to go with the variety of colours.

After all, they say we "eat with our eyes"!
