Chris will be talking about his award winning work at The Manx Museum in Douglas from 7pm - 8pm this evening.

⭐ We're really excited to share a project that's been in the works for a short while and has now been officially released by Learn Manx! ⭐

Learn Manx's language classes provide a fantastic environment for speaking and listening in Manx Gaelic. To complement these lessons with interactive and engaging opportunities for reading and writing, Learn Manx asked us to create Manx Language Chatbots. 💬

As part of this super fun collaboration, we shaped the bots around the colour scheme and design of the existing textbooks that accompany beginner's adult learning classes. 📚 The bots have hardcoded responses (that is, they're not AI-based bots), yet aim create a sense of a real conversation through timed responses, humour, and a typical messaging system design that would be more than familiar to learners. To make the learning process as comfortable as possible, the bots can also act as a mini-dictionary, allowing learners to ask for the English of Manx words or vice versa. 📖

🏆 To keep learners engaged and rewarded the bots include an element of gamification. Leaners are awarded trophies following each conversation and are encouraged to achieve gold for every lesson. 🏆

It's long been a wish of ours to contribute to Manx language learning by creating an interactive that helps people along with their journey.

We hope all learners out there enjoy chatting with our Manx language bots and that they prove rewarding as they help in sharpening those reading and writing skills! 🗒️🖊️

As a graphic designer in the Isle of Man, I am always looking to connect with artists and creatives in order to personally develop. I have a passion for many artforms including but not limited to design, drawing, music, and creative writing.

For my day-to-day work I use a myriad of computer programmes to create still and moving digital pieces. These pieces often merge audio and visual elements and are designed to promote organisations I believe in through communicating their values, goals, and identity to key audiences.

I also work on branding businesses and ensuring that what they communicate visually matches what they intend to say. Taking visual communication as an artform, I regularly draw on knowledge and inspiration from visual arts, psychology, and communication science. My branding projects also present enjoyable opportunities to work with print and to explore physical media as a form of visual communication.

As a coder, I frequently explore how code can introduce interesting and different elements to websites and other digital platforms. My goal is always to combine art with technology to create novel experiences and communicate valuable messages.

I believe that a strong network is vital to the growth of arts and culture on the island, and it is my ambition as a designer to foster strong relationships with other creatives, to take on new and bold projects that showcase the abundance of creative prowess and diversity in the Isle of Man, and to leave things a little better than they were before.

Juan's illustrations are amazing, so £35 a drawing is an absolute bargain! (I'm sure within the 100 there's a Viking for everyone while they're there.)

What a beautiful and relaxed place Cornwall is! The professional design journey has been one of hard work, trials, ups, downs, and literal tests, and finally making it to the Falmouth University graduation this year to receive my MA in Graphic Design (and a chocolate doubloon!) from Dawn French was an absolute pleasure and honour. Here's to many more years of professional design!
