Google has removed uBlock Origin from the Chrome Web Store as Chrome finishes its move away from Manifest V2.

Google says Manifest V3 is meant to improve security and privacy, but it also limits how content-blocking extensions can work.

The original uBlock Origin is not dead, It still works on browsers that support Manifest V2, including Firefox, there is also uBlock Origin Lite for Manifest V3, but it has fewer features.

Linus Torvalds says tracking down a bug in Linux's Intel GFX Driver was a "debug session from hell." The AI helping him repeatedly called it "impossible and unsolvable" and suggested they just write a report instead.

He kept pushing. 24 debug patches and 18 kernel boots later he found the bug: one round_up() that should have been round_down().

He then let the AI write the commit message.

If you’re still on stock Android… Google installs SafetyCore (on-device sensitive content scanning), and it silently reinstalls itself when removed.

The community’s solution is simple and effective:
A placeholder APK with an absurdly high version number (2,000,000,000).

Once installed, Play Services can no longer overwrite it.

2. Install the placeholder APK
3. Retain full control of your device

Researchers discovered a sneaky bug where opening a downloaded code folder automatically runs malicious files in the background. It takes advantage of how IDEs locate tools, executing code immediately with no popups, no prompts, and zero extra clicks.

At first, people only knew about fake git.exe files placed in the folder root. New research shows other background files like hatch.exe triggered by pyproject.toml do the exact same thing.

This means filtering or watching for git.exe alone was never enough, as the entire way these editors handle project files created a massive blind spot.

Microsoft's July fix for the RoguePlanet Defender flaw (CVE-2026-50656) has officially been bypassed.

Just hours after August Patch Tuesday, Nightmare Eclipse dropped an exploit named ShieldBreak on GitHub. While RoguePlanet relied on a hit-or-miss race condition, this new code boasts a 100% success rate on fully updated Windows 11 25H2 and Server 2025 systems.

The underlying vulnerability still allows any standard local user to escalate to full SYSTEM access, and Microsoft has not issued a fix yet.
