5 THINGS YOU SHOULD NOT OVERDO AS A BUSINESS PERSON IF YOU WANT YOUR BUSINESS TO KEEP GROWING ππ°
Making money from your business is one thing, but knowing how to manage that money and avoid unnecessary financial pressure is another thing.
As your business starts growing, donβt allow your income to make you forget the things that helped you build the business in the first place. These are 5 areas you need to be very careful with π
1οΈβ£ FAMILY π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦
Taking care of your family is very important. In fact, helping your family when you have the means is one of the best things you can do.
But don't make the mistake of turning yourself into the family's permanent ATM.
When you keep giving money even when the situation is not necessary, some people can gradually become entitled to your money. They may stop seeing your support as help and start seeing it as your responsibility.
Help your family, but also know your limits, know the expenses your business can carry because,Them no dey carry family problem for head. π
2οΈβ£ ASSOCIATIONS π€
Don't join too many associations simply because you want to belong.
Some associations come with constant financial obligations.
Today, Mr A is getting married. Tomorrow, Mr B is celebrating his birthday. Next week, Mr C is doing a naming ceremony. Then they will say everybody should contribute a certain amount.
You that are inside the association have not even invited them to celebrate anything with you, but you are constantly contributing to everybody else's events. π
Sometimes, you may even have to close your shop to attend meetings or honour invitations.
There's nothing wrong with belonging to an association, but don't allow associations to become a regular expense that your business cannot comfortably carry.
Join associations that genuinely add value to your life, business, network or community.
3οΈβ£ RENT π
Don't rush to rent a big house just because your business has started making more money.
One of the biggest mistakes people make when their income increases is immediately increasing their expenses.
For example, you were comfortably paying β¦300,000 rent, then your business starts doing better and you decide to move into a house that costs β¦1.2 million simply because you want people to see that you are now doing well.
Remember, your business may be growing today, but you still need money for restocking, emergencies, expansion and unexpected business challenges.
Let your lifestyle grow gradually with your business.
4οΈβ£ CAR π
Don't rush to buy a car simply because you can afford the initial payment.
A car doesn't only require money to buy. You have fuel, servicing, repairs, insurance, tyres and other maintenance expenses.
If buying the car will force you to touch your business capital, then you are probably not ready for it.
If you have enough money **outside your business capital** to buy the car and comfortably maintain it, then you can consider getting one.
Don't use your business money to prove to people that you have arrived.
5οΈβ£ LIFESTYLE π
This is where many business owners get trapped.
The moment the business starts making more money, they want to change everything β expensive clothes, expensive restaurants, expensive gadgets, expensive vacations and unnecessary spending.
Your lifestyle should not grow faster than your business.
For example, if your business is making β¦1 million today, don't immediately start living like someone whose business consistently makes β¦5 million.
Because if business slows down next month, your expenses may remain the same while your income has reduced.
**The goal of business is not just to make more money. The goal is to build something that can continue to grow and survive.**
Make money.
Enjoy your money.
Take care of your family.
Buy nice things.
But **don't let your lifestyle, family obligations, associations, rent or car become the reason your business stops growing. ππ―
