I Bought My Own Car From Working As A Waitress-I Save Up To GHS500 On Good Days-Female Yango Driver
Petrina, popularly known as the Yango Girl, is a Ghanaian based in Ghana who is building her future through hard work and determination.
Coming from a humble background, she refused to depend on anyone and decided to create her own path.
She worked as a waitress in a bar, where she often faced disrespect from some customers, especially when they were drunk. Despite the challenges, she stayed focused and used that job to save money and buy her own car.
She initially gave the car to someone to work with, but after it developed a fault and stayed with a mechanic for 7 months, she decided to fix it herself and start driving.
That was how her Yango journey began.
Today, she drives confidently and says many people are still surprised when they request a ride and discover a woman is behind the wheel. Some even cancel the trip, but she says people are gradually getting used to it.
She also revealed that beyond driving, she is trained in cosmetology.
She studied manicure, pedicure, wigs, lashes, makeup, and hair braiding, and hopes to open her own beauty shop in the future while continuing her transport business.
According to her:
In Tema, she can make around GH¢200 profit during the day
On good days in Accra, she can make GH¢400 to GH¢500
Many female passengers also support her with tips
Her message is simple:
There is dignity in hard work, and women should never be afraid to enter spaces people think are only for men.
