The MV Barima Tragedy should be preserved in film to honour those who perished, those who survived, and those still awaiting news of their loved ones.

A movie would serve as a lasting public record, a means of collective remembrance, and a way to ensure that the human impact of the disaster is not forgotten.

Against that backdrop, I wish to propose that our creatives develop a film based on the MV Barima Tragedy in order to preserve the memory of those who perished, those who survived, and those who remain unaccounted for.

Such a production is necessary because it would honour the dignity of the victims, document the lived experiences of survivors, and provide a lasting historical account of the event. It would also serve as a platform for:
