Here are 10 suggestions to improve your website so you can reduce the need for google ads & social ads.
Google ads and social ads are great but the average small businesses often does not have a large ad budget, we feel that ads should only be used for short-term sales boosts such a new products/services, seasonal promotions, etc.
Small businesses instead should focus on improving the basics of their website to get found on google, such as the one’s on the list below. They are all free and you will see an increase in sales from your website within 3-9months if not sooner.
Even if you pay an SEO/website person to do it for you it often ends up cheaper than running monthly google/social ads campaigns.
1. Write your website copy with your site visitor in mind - commonly called a customer persona. This means using the same words that they will use to search for you, and using the similar kind of language that they will understand, avoiding any unnecessary technical terminology
2. Review the details that show for your page in google searches, if its not about your page topic (eg a product or service) then your page will not show up when people search the product/service that you are offering
3. Make sure your site works on mobile since more than 50% of users use their phones for searching
4. Make sure your site loads fast by doing simple things like using small images, and updating your website if it was developed decades ago!
5. Have some simple header-text on the top of each page that describes what each page is about - you would be surprised how many sites are out there where visitors have to spend ages to work out what the business does!
6. Make sure your pages have more than 50 words! And make sure your text is relevant - if you sell chocolate bars then your page should be about chocolate bars
7. Make sure that you have plenty of Contact Me/ Book Now/ Buy Now buttons on your page, if visitors have to scroll around to find it then they will probably leave without doing it!
8. Set up Google My Business so that you can be found on local searches on Google Maps
9. Get active on blogging so that you will reach more people, and if you are stuck with some ideas then start with the common questions that your customers/prospects regularly ask you
10. Add a link to your website to every social media post, and link your site to Google Analytics so you can work out how effective your social media is being in getting new business
