Once a TTLock smart lock is installed and connected, it is easy to think the job is finished.
The door opens.
The passcode works.
The app is connected.
Great.
But smart lock setup is not only about getting the door to open today.
It is also about making sure you can still manage the door later.
One common mistake is forgetting the admin account details.
The first account that adds the lock is usually the main admin account. This account can manage users, passcodes, eKeys, fingerprints, cards, settings and access records, depending on the lock model.
For a home, losing track of the admin account is annoying.
For a BNB, office, rental property, clinic or shared space, it can become a much bigger problem.
In simple words:
Losing access to the admin account can become a bigger problem than losing a physical key.
💡 How to avoid it:
Use an email or phone number that you can access long-term.
Avoid using a temporary staff member’s personal account as the main admin account.
Also make sure you know your backup plan:
Where is the mechanical key?
Who has access to it?
Who is responsible for changing the batteries?
What happens if the battery warning appears?
Smart locks are convenient, but they are still locks.
Always know your backup plan.
