The January 2019 Top 1000 Hosters report is now available (123 Euro). In addition to covering domain statistics for the top 1000 hosters in COM/NET/ORG/BIZ/INFO/MOBI/ASIA/US, it also shows the estimated gTLDs counts by country. The latest addition to the report is the new/deleted/transfers statistics for the COM/NET/ORG/BIZ/INFO/MOBI/ASIA gTLDs and the new gTLDs from January 2018 to January 2019.

Updating HosterStats site with new registrars and hosters data. This is expanding the coverage of the site and the old yearly pages for each hoster will be replaced with a page for each hoster. There are 1,816,933 hosters in the February 2017 data set alone.

Mapped the websites of over 148 million com/net/org/biz/info/mobi/asia domain names to their hosting countries. The maps are on http://www.hosterstats.com/gtld-websites.php and there are regional breakdowns as well as country breakdowns for .com and the gTLD totals.

Some websites can be hosted on multiple IP addresses associated with a number of countries. Some of these new gTLDs, typically the ones with the high number of websites, are in General Availability.

Google talks about link spam and every so often issues a FUD warning from on high or Twitter. Google is trundling off down the yellow brick road of AI irrelevance and it is driven by people who just don’t seem to understand the issue of link spam. So while the Google index turns to mush, its “Knowledge Graph” is promoted as a shining example of its “innovation”. Scraping Wikipedia and adding a few links is hardly innovation. And therein lies the problem.

Building a rapid comparison checker for domain names and running a cross TLD analysis on new gTLDs. At the moment, the new gTLDs are cumulatively adding up to the size of a medium sized ccTLD but they are largely a North American event.
