Everyone’s been here:
You run a speed test.
It says everything is great.
Then your Zoom call freezes right as you’re making a point.
That’s not bad luck. And it’s not Zoom's issue.
The reality is…video calls don’t need “fast.” They need calm.
What usually messes things up:
-Someone in the house starts uploading photos or backing up their phone
-A laptop decides now is a great time to sync everything
And so, the internet gets “busy” for a few minutes.
What you can do during the call (no tech degree required):
-Turn your camera off for a minute — it often stabilizes things.
-Pause anything uploading in the background.
-If you have a cable nearby, plugging in beats Wi-Fi every time.
Big uploads should happen at night, not during meetings.
One busy device shouldn’t disrupt everyone else’s call.
At Zahava Networks, we design internet setups around meetings not failing, not just big speed numbers — because speed tests don’t sit in board meetings.
