Ok — over the last few days, I’ve shared where NOT to place your router if you want quality internet connectivity.

Today, let’s talk about what actually works.

Here are four best practices to maximize your Wi-Fi speed and coverage:

𝗣𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗨𝗽: Place it on a shelf or wall mount—at least 5 feet off the floor. Wi-Fi spreads down and out like an umbrella, so height helps it clear furniture and other small obstacles.

𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁: Position your router in the center of your home (or wherever you use Wi-Fi most) to ensure even coverage in every room.

𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗮 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗵: Fewer walls and barriers between the router and your devices = stronger signal and faster connection.

𝗔𝗱𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗮𝘀: If your router has two, point one straight up and one sideways. This helps reach both upstairs and same-floor devices efficiently.

Okay...here are two surprising WiFi signal weakeners:

Water and hiding spots.

*𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁, 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿.*

Because water absorbs radio waves, anything large and full of water can act like a sponge for your Wi-Fi signal. This includes large fish tanks, as well as appliances like boilers or water heaters.

If your router is near a major water source, its signal can be significantly weakened, leading to coverage gaps.

The biggest temporary signal killer of your WiFi signal is the Microwave Oven.

Why the Internet Broke (A Simple Explanation)

To give you a clearer picture of the Cloudflare outage, think of the internet like a global road system.

1. What is Cloudflare?

Cloudflare is not a website; it's a huge, essential traffic cop and security guard for a massive portion of the internet. When you type in the address of a major website (like a bank, news site, or social media platform), your request often doesn't go straight to that site. It first goes through Cloudflare.

2. The Outage: A Traffic Jam at the Hub

During the outage, one of Cloudflare's "main switching centers"(a core part of its infrastructure) failed.

* Imagine a major highway interchange suddenly shutting down.
* Because so much internet traffic must pass through this interchange, when it failed, the requests from your computer had no route to their destination.
* This didn't just slow things down; it made large parts of the internet feel completely broken or unreachable.

**3. Why Was Everyone Affected?

The failure was global because Cloudflare provides critical services to millions of websites worldwide. Since the "traffic cop" couldn't route the requests, it didn't matter how well our network (Zahava Networks) was running; the essential step of getting you from our network to the requested website was impossible until Cloudflare fixed its central failure.

Scammers are relentless, and they are already pivoting their tactics—this time using the name of Microsoft to trick people.

We're sharing a fresh, advanced phishing attempt that is currently targeting inboxes.

This scam plays on your wallet and includes a highly dangerous component.

This is a masterclass in deception—here are the specific red flags you must watch for:

The 3 Critical Flaws in This Scam

1. The Psychological Pressure Point (The "Charge Already Happened"):

• The Subject Line: "Re: Your Office 365 Subscription Has Been Renewed." This phrasing is designed to bypass your logical filter. You are not being asked to renew; you are being told a charge has already occurred. This forces an immediate, emotional response to stop the payment.

• The Fix: Your credit card company or official vendor (like Microsoft) will never confirm a major transaction like this via a generic email attachment. Always check your bank statement or log in to the official service portal directly.

2. The Sender's Technical Lie:

• The Deception: The sender name is "Auto-Renewal," which is meaningless. The real sender address is from an unrelated, non-Microsoft foreign domain ([email protected]).

• The Fix: Make it a reflex: if the "From" address is not the official company domain you know and trust, delete it immediately. Scammers rely on recipients only reading the sender's name.

3. The Malware Delivery Method (The HTML Attachment):

• The Danger: This scam replaces a clickable link with a file attachment: Microsoft Subscription Team_48651118.htm. This is an attempt to deliver malware or steal credentials. Opening an unexpected .htm file will redirect you to a fake login page outside of the protection of your email service.

• The Fix: NEVER open unexpected attachments, especially .htm or any compressed file. A legitimate invoice will be linked to your account on the official website, not attached to an email.
REMINDER: Phishing is a numbers game. Don't be their next victim.

2. Check: Log in to your actual Microsoft account (typing the URL yourself) to verify any charges or renewals.

We just had a conversation about online security, and moments later, this exact email landed in our inbox—a live example of what these dangerous scams look like.

We're sharing this screenshot and the tactics they used so you and your network can stay safe.

Look closely at the email we received:

The Fake Sender Trick:

The email appears to be about a "DocuSign" agreement from "Zahava Networks," but when you check the actual sender address, it's: [email protected].

Key Lesson:
Scammers hide behind realistic-looking names. ALWAYS check the full "From" address—if it doesn't match the company's official domain, it's a trap.

The Sense of Urgency:
The email demands we "Review Document" before a fake and arbitrary "Deadline: November 6, 2025".

Key Lesson: They want you to panic and click fast without thinking. Legitimate companies rarely impose immediate, urgent deadlines via email for crucial documents.

The Misleading File Name:

The title tries to look official (e.g., 2025_Revised_Agreement...), but clicking that link is a direct attempt to steal your login credentials or install malicious software (malware).

What did we do?

We followed the number one security rule:

1. Stop: We didn't click immediately.

2. Check: We verified the suspicious sender address.

3. Delete: We immediately deleted the email.

We never click links in suspicious emails.

Protect Yourself and Your Network

When in doubt, call the sender directly!

Use an official phone number you find on the company's website or an official letter—never reply to the suspicious email or call a number provided within it.

The Easiest Way to Spot a Scam!

It's a Cyber Week Tip everyone needs to know: Scammers are working overtime right now, and their favorite trick is using a fake email address to trick you.

Take a look at the image we shared. If you receive an email claiming to be from Bank Leumi (or any major bank, vendor, or service provider) and the sender's address looks like this:

- You See: [email protected]
- You Should Think: FAKE!

Why is this an immediate red flag?

Real, professional organizations NEVER use generic, free email accounts like Gmail, Hotmail, or Yahoo for official security alerts or account support.

• They will always use their own verified company domain (e.g., Bank Leumi would use something like .co.il).
That gmail.com is the number one sign you're dealing with a Phishing Scam. Don't let the panic of a "security alert" or the excitement of a "Cyber Week deal" make you blind to this simple detail.

A quick check can save you from a major headache and financial loss.
