3. GATE- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering

Here is an entrance exam for those who doesn't want to goto foreign for higher studies and study in India. Students who are interested in doing M.Tech after their graduation can appear for this test. This test helps you to enter the top most universities in India like IISC, IIT's, NIT's and many more. The qualifying marks for recent GATE 2013 was 25 marks!

This shows how tough this exam is. It is one of the best exams in India written by students though. According to the latest rules the following students are eligible to write GATE:

Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final year of such programmes.
Master's degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Applications.
Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master's degree programme (B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology.
Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech.

The following students are not allowed to write GATE:

Pre-final year students are not eligible to write GATE. This means only final year students are eligible to appear for this examination.
DIPLOMA HOLDERS IN ENGINEERING ARE NOT ELIGIBLE.

4. CAT- Common Admission Test :

This is a computer based test that is written in India for doing higher studies like MBA. The universities that students can opt are IIM's, IIT's, IISC and many more. These are the main top universities that every student dream to get into. Students are selected based on their performances in Quantitative ability, Verbal ability, Logical reasoning and Data interpretation.CAT is normally conducted every year during a 21 day testing window (may vary) in the months of October and November. A candidate can appear for CAT only once during the 20-day testing window. The test score is valid for admission to the forthcoming academic year only. A student must have atleast 50% marks in his/her graduation failing which he/she is not eligible to write the examination.

Common Admission Test will have TWO sections:

Quantitative Ability (QA) & Data Interpretation (DI)
Verbal Ability (VA) & Logical Reasoning (LR)

It will be for 140 minutes. Student will get 70 minutes to answer 30 questions within each section which will have an on-screen countdown timer. Once the time ends for the first section, you will have to move to the second section and will no longer be able to go back. So you should review your answers for the 1st section, within the first 70 minutes.

CAT follows negative marking scheme. Each correct answer carries 1 mark and incorrect deducts minus one mark.

5. CIVIL SERVICES EXAMINATION :

The Civil Services Examination (CSE) competitive examination held in India. It is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. By writing this, a student is eligible to appear for various Civil Services of the Government of India, including Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Forest Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Revenue Service (IRS) among others.

The examination is conducted in two phases –

The Preliminary examination- It consist of two papers
General Studies (200 marks)
Aptitude Test(200 marks)
The Main examination- Student must appear for nine papers of conventional (essay) followed by the Personality Interview.

The results of the student may be declared almost after a year!! By this time, all the necessary procedure must be completed by the student. All candidates must have a minimum of any of the following educational qualifications:

A degree/graduation from a Central, State or Deemed university. This is a certificate given by th Government of India.
There is no minimum % that has to be scored for students to write this exam. Any student can write the exam

So in my point of view, the is the best exam that a student can take and make his future bright. Delhi is the ideal place to prepare for CIVILS. There are many institutions that train you on how to prepare for the examination.

6. CAMPUS PLACEMENTS :

This is for the students who do not want to study higher education and start earning. All the graduate colleges will have campus placements that a student can attend based on his performance in the course. Many companies offer job placements right after a student gets out of his graduation with flying colors.

If the student has a nice aggregate in his graduation, his/her chances of getting recruited is high. The student will be called for the interview and based on his performance he/she will be selected. Once the student is recruited in an company, he has to undergo a 2 years training period where he/she gets to work on various projects. Once this is completed, if the student has the capability to contribute to the company, he/she will be promoted to a higher level. So this is a best option for those students who are not interested to do higher education.

7. Others :

If the student is not interested in doing the above courses always has many other choices like appearing for Railway examination, GMAT, Bank examination, Teaching or establishing his own company and many more.

So. Guys hope you find the above information useful. I will be explaining every exam in detail in the coming posts. Any further doubts feel free to ask in below comments.
