Hydrological experts suspect the sudden deluge was triggered by a Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) in Tibet rather than localized rainfall.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, along with local administrative offices, is collaborating with Chinese authorities and examining satellite data to pinpoint the origin.

Meanwhile, high-risk advisories cover the riverbanks of Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, and Chitwan, with high water levels projected to reach the Marshyangdi confluence at Mugling by Wednesday evening.

In response, disaster management authorities are advising immediate protective measures for all exposed communities.

Residents in low-lying riverside settlements and agricultural areas have been instructed to relocate to higher ground immediately.

Furthermore, officials urge travelers to avoid the Prithvi Highway and nearby riverside corridors, recommending a temporary halt to vehicular traffic while local District Coordination Committees mobilize rescue teams and emergency resources.
