Episode 01: The Purple Ink Studio, Akshay Heranjal, Aditi Pai, Nish*ta Bhatia, and Arpita Pai

Founded by four partners and now home to a close-knit team of 35, Bengaluru-based Purple Ink runs less like a conventional studio and more like a rock band—a description the founders embrace wholeheartedly. Their design language draws as much from music, cinema, and books as it does from architecture, shaping a practice that is instinctive, culturally rooted, and refreshingly non-designed.

"Bold design is where we are actually able to be ourselves, to bring whatever we truly believe in and are fully convinced about, to boldly put it out fearlessly," say the founders, on what drives their approach to every project.

In this episode of 'In Studio with Kohler', The Purple Ink Studio team opens the doors to their Bengaluru studio, housed in a 40-year-old heritage building. They walk us through spaces that double as listening rooms and discussion tables, and reflect on how a Metallica concert in 2011 shaped the energy of the practice they run today.

The experience of a space often begins long before we notice it. It begins with materiality: the textures beneath our feet, the warmth within a surface and the details that quietly shape how we move through an environment.

Willow Viiew’s Willow Viiew approach to wood flooring is guided by an appreciation for enduring materials and developed through thoughtful collaborations. This philosophy sees flooring not as a finishing layer, but as an integral part of the spatial experience.
