Lory Hawley from Secrets of home Theater & High Fidelity recently finished a comprehensive review of the new STAX SR-009D Earspeakers. For audiophiles looking to invest in top-tier electrostatic performance, the SR-009D builds upon a storied legacy. "Best known for his stint fronting the rock group Supertramp, which Roger Hodgson co-founded with Rick Davies in 1969, Roger thrived as a solo performer in the years following his leaving Supertramp in 1982. He moved to Northern California to focus on his family, and eventually released his first solo album, “In The Eye Of The Storm”. Listening to this wonderful album, it is clear where the piano and vocals that marked the Supertramp sound came from. In the song “Lovers in the Wind,” the high chords of the piano are instantly recognizable, as are Roger’s distinctive feathery high tenor/countertenor vocals. The STAX SR-009D shines with the song “Lovers in the Wind”. It has a haunting ethereal quality that is delicate and almost iridescent, like the surface of a bubble. The delicacy of the piano and Roger’s voice is delivered with perfect crystalline airiness and spaciousness by the SR-009D. A match made in countertenor heaven."
