SIFUNA AMEJIPATA PABAYA?
Edwin W. Sifuna anaweza kuwa amejipata pabaya kisiasa. 😭

Kulikuwa na dhalili kwamba huenda Orengo na Babu Owino walikuwa wanamtumia, lakini akaendelea mbele akiamini anajenga nguvu yake.

Tuangalie hii political chessboard.

Baada ya Baba kuwa hayuko active kisiasa k**a zamani, Sifuna akiwa ODM Secretary-General alikuwa ameshikilia nafasi yenye nguvu sana. Kwa chama kikubwa k**a ODM, SG si nafasi ya kawaida ni centre of influence.

Lakini hapa ndipo mchezo ukaanza.

Babu Owino alikuwa na ambitions zake za kisiasa, akitazama nafasi ya Governor na baadaye national politics. Orengo, akiwa veteran wa ODM, naye alikuwa na interest ya kuendelea kuwa na influence kubwa ndani ya chama.

Sasa, swali ni hili:

Je, Sifuna alikuwa anakuwa threat kwao?

Hapo ndipo kile kilichoonekana k**a internal rebellion/coup ndani ya ODM kilipoanza kutafsiriwa na wengine k**a political chess kuwapunguza nguvu Sifuna na Osotsi na kuwaondoa kwenye centre of power.

Na leo mambo yanaonekana tofauti.

Juzi, Orengo na Babu Owino walienda Mizani kwenye poll ya “most popular politician in Nyanza.” Orengo akaibuka wa kwanza, Babu wa pili na cha kushangaza, Sifuna hakukuwa hata kwenye list.

Je, hiyo ni coincidence?

Au ni ujumbe wa kisiasa?

“Huku Nyanza, huwezi kujifanya wewe ndiye mwenye nguvu.”

Hii cold war ilizidi kuonekana wakati jina la Sifuna lilipoanza kutajwa k**a possible face of Linda Mwananchi na hata potential presidential player.

Na sasa, baada ya mambo kubadilika ndani ya ODM, Sifuna na Osotsi wanaonekana k**a wameachwa politically exposed.

Meanwhile, Orengo na Babu? Wameanza kuonekana tena kwenye same political chessboard.

K**a hii ni coincidence, basi ni coincidence yenye timing ya kushangaza sana. 😁

Politics has no permanent friends only permanent interests.

Kenyan politics is largely a battlefield of propaganda, interests and political calculations.
Uhuru is believed to have his own preferred political project, Gachagua appears to prefer Kalonzo, while other opposition figures may also be positioning themselves for the top seat. Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi movement could equally be interpreted as part of a longer-term political strategy.
The real question is: who is genuinely fighting for the people, and who is simply fighting for political relevance?
If Gachagua truly believes that Kalonzo must be the opposition flag bearer and that he would rather see Ruto politically strengthened than support Matiang’i or Sifuna then it exposes the fundamental problem facing the opposition: the battle is not about unity; it is about whose personal ambition survives.
Kalonzo says this may be his final attempt and believes seniority entitles him to the ticket. Matiang’i has his own political backers. Sifuna appears to be building his own national profile. Uhuru, Gachagua and other power brokers may each have preferred outcomes.
Meanwhile, Ruto benefits from an opposition that spends more time negotiating individual ambitions than constructing a credible alternative.
Politics has no permanent friends—only permanent interests. And in this game, the opposition may discover too late that Ruto’s greatest campaign team is an opposition that cannot agree on who should lead it.
