In 1441, Korea introduced Cheugugi (측우기)☔

One of the world’s first standardized rain gauges and centuries ahead of its time.

For over 500 years 📜, Korea continued recording rainfall, creating one of the longest continuous climate datasets in history. But what truly stands out is not just the innovation, it is the intent ❤️

From the beginning, meteorology in Korea has always been about people 👨‍🌾👩‍🌾
Protecting farmers from drought 🌱
Preparing communities for floods 🌊
Turning data into decisions that safeguard lives

Today, as we celebrate World Meteorological Day, we are reminded how that same philosophy continues with new tools 🛰️📡🤖

From satellites and radars to AI-driven climate intelligence

At DI Lab, this legacy shapes everything we do 💡
We build technology not just to predict weather, but to deliver actionable insights where they are needed most

Because the mission remains the same 🌏
Put people first
Close the data gap
Bring resilience to the most underserved communities 🤝

We recently had the opportunity to engage with students and researchers through a series of university events, including a session at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology and at KyungHee University.

At UNIST, our CEO was invited as a speaker for a special seminar on Weather Satellite Fusion, where we introduced our ongoing projects—from AI-powered weather analytics to real-world deployments across multiple countries—and how these technologies are being applied to address climate risks on the ground.

Beyond our technical work, our CTO also shared our journey as a startup expanding into ODA and international cooperation at KyungHee University. It was a valuable opportunity to discuss how climate-tech solutions can bridge the gap between innovation and impact, particularly in regions most vulnerable to climate change.

We’re grateful for the invitation and the engaging discussions, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration with academia as we grow globally.

We were glad to participate in the GPEX Multistakeholder Workshop held on 5–6 March in Kyoto, Japan, together with researchers, funding agencies, operational organizations, and industry partners working on precipitation science.

The discussions focused on a key challenge: how to translate advances in precipitation science into practical information for decision-making and risk management.

At DI Lab, this is exactly the gap we aim to address. Through our AI-Radar Map, we combine radar, satellite, and ground observations with AI to generate high-resolution precipitation insights that can support climate services and operational decision-making.

Workshops like GPEX are an important step toward strengthening collaboration between science, technology, and real-world climate resilience.

📌 New interview feature

Our CEO, Kwang-Min Myung shares a candid take with Venture Square on what’s still missing in climate tech:
accurate climate risk prediction is improving, but real-world response is still lagging.

As climate extremes become more localized, the gap between forecasts and on-the-ground decisions is where risk compounds. This is where the need for his vision, ClimaMRI, becomes clear.

esterday, we took part in the 2025 기상·기후데이터 융합분석 분야 커리어 브리지 🌏📊, a career-focused event designed to connect students and professionals specializing in meteorology, climate, energy, and disaster response.

We were joined in the room by curious students 🎓 and long-term collaborators 🤝, creating a space for open dialogue across generations and sectors. Participating companies introduced their core services and real-world activities, sharing how weather and climate data are translated into practical application services across research, industry, and public services.

Beyond technical insights, the sessions also focused on personal growth 🌱. Speakers reflected on their own career journeys, offering advice on mindset, resilience, mental well-being, and how to navigate society and professional environments.

Our CEO emphasized that in today's rapidly changing world, it is increasingly valuable to diversify skills and experiences 🚀. Rather than following a single, linear career path, building a career portfolio through varied experiences can open more opportunities and foster long-term adaptability.

Wrapping Up Development Cooperation Week in Korea 🇰🇷🌏

We are honoured that our CTO Dr. Yeji Choi was once again invited to participate in Development Cooperation Week 2025. She spoke as a panelist on an important discussion regarding how NGOs, ODA mechanisms such as KOICA, and private-sector innovators can collaborate more effectively to support hashtag and hashtag .

A core theme that emerged from the panel was the importance of climate justice and financing for loss and damage, but the most resonant takeaway for us was this:

🔍 Development projects must be contextualized from the ground up.
Rather than starting from how organizations—or technologies—can strategically position themselves, meaningful collaboration begins with listening to local recipients and stakeholders, understanding their lived realities, and giving them the space to craft solutions that are truly tailored to their contexts.
Only then can actors like us understand how our technology and expertise can best fit into their needs and their vision for resilient, sustainable growth.
We’re grateful for the thoughtful dialogue and inspired to continue shaping partnerships that are locally grounded, community-led, and aligned with long-term climate justice.

Wrapping Up a Meaningful Year in the Pacific

This month, our team visited Samoa Meteorological Division and Tonga Meteorological Services, the two Pacific Island countries selected by Korea Meteorological Institute.

We travelled on their behalf to understand the realities on the ground, assess capabilities, and identify where technology can meaningfully support national meteorological services.

One thing became immediately clear:

👉 The incredible expertise of the local met teams.

Despite limited resources, they show remarkable resilience, creativity, and technical strength, making the most of every tool available to provide accurate and timely services for their communities.

And since the PMC meeting in Samoa back in August, a consistent message has been voiced by Pacific countries:
🔗 Collaboration is welcome, but sustainability is essential

They are eager to work together, and while they humbly accept support, they emphasize the need for solutions that last well beyond the project period.

At , we fully recognize this.

We are committed to long-term engagement in the Pacific, bringing our AI-Radar Map and climate intelligence technologies to the region, and ensuring these systems remain sustainable and locally tailored.

A heartfelt thank you to our partners in Samoa and Tonga for the warm welcome and invaluable insights. We are excited for what comes next. 🌺🤝🌤️
