16-Port POE Switch: Functions and Applications
I. Functions
POE Power Supply: It can supply power to connected devices (such as IP cameras, wireless access points, etc.) while transmitting data via network cables. Each port can automatically detect and allocate appropriate power, eliminating the need for additional power cords, saving costs and being convenient.
Data Switching and Transmission: The 16 ports can quickly forward data, support 10/100/1000Mbps rate adaptation, reduce data transmission delay and packet loss, and ensure network stability and smoothness, suitable for various data transmission requirements.
Port Management: It can be remotely managed in multiple ways. It can divide VLANs to isolate the network and has functions such as port mirroring, speed limiting, and aggregation, facilitating the management of port bandwidth and network security.
Network Security: It has access control lists to prevent illegal access, DHCP Snooping to ensure the security of IP address allocation, and some also have 802.1X authentication to enhance network protection.
Intelligent Management and Monitoring: It can monitor the status of the switch in real-time. If there are abnormalities in ports, temperature, power supply, etc., it will send alarms. It can also provide statistical information such as traffic, helping with network maintenance and planning.
II. Application Scenarios
Video Surveillance: Multiple IP cameras are connected to the POE ports of the switch, simplifying wiring and ensuring the smooth transmission of surveillance videos, applicable to various surveillance sites.
Enterprise Network: It provides network and power for enterprise office equipment (computers, printers, IP phones, etc.) and wireless access points, divides VLANs to improve management and security, and helps build enterprise networks.
Wireless LAN Expansion: Paired with wireless access points, it realizes large-area wireless coverage. Because of POE power supply, the deployment of access points is more flexible, commonly seen in commercial and public institutions.
Intelligent Buildings and Internet of Things: It connects sensors, door locks, lighting and other devices in intelligent buildings, realizing data interaction and cooperation, promoting the development of intelligent buildings and the Internet of Things
