πŸ” Cyber Tip Tuesday: think before you scan that QR code.

QR codes are everywhere now, from car park payments to restaurant tables. Scammers know it, and some paste fake codes over the real ones to steal logins and card details.

Three quick checks before you scan:
1️⃣ Look first. Check if a sticker has been pasted over the original code.
2️⃣ Read the link. After scanning, check that the address matches the business before you open it.
3️⃣ Stop at logins. Do not enter passwords or card details on a page you reached by scanning, unless you are sure it is real.

When in doubt, type the website address yourself or ask the staff. Share this with your team. πŸ’ͺ

🌐 Website Tip Monday: any broken links on your website? A menu button or contact link that leads to an error page makes visitors leave, and search engines notice too.

Three quick checks, once a month:
1️⃣ Click your key pages. Try the menu, buttons and contact link.
2️⃣ Fix or redirect old pages. Send visitors to a page that works.
3️⃣ Add a helpful 404 page. Guide visitors back to your menu.

Ten minutes a month keeps your website friendly for customers.

πŸ” Sunday FAQ: "We're too small to be hacked, right?" Not really. Hackers do not check your company size.

Three reasons small businesses are targeted:
1️⃣ Attacks are automated. Bots scan thousands of businesses at once, looking for any open door.
2️⃣ Fewer protections. Smaller firms often have less security than big companies, so they are easier to get into.
3️⃣ Valuable data. Customer details, supplier information and payment records are worth stealing.

Good news: simple habits help a lot. Turn on two-step login, keep software updated, and keep a tested backup.

What is one security habit your team already follows? Tell us in the comments πŸ‘‡

πŸ“§ Saturday Microsoft 365 tip: going on leave? Set your Out-of-Office reply. Without one, customers and suppliers are left wondering why nobody is replying, and urgent emails can sit unseen for days.

Three quick steps in Outlook:
1️⃣ Turn on automatic replies. Add start and end dates so it switches off by itself.
2️⃣ Name a backup contact, so urgent emails still get answered.
3️⃣ Keep details minimal. Skip travel plans and personal phone numbers, which is also good practice for protecting personal data under the PDPA.

Try it before your next holiday. It only takes a few minutes. Share this with your team πŸ‘‡

🌐 Website Tip Friday: does your contact form really work? A form that quietly fails means lost enquiries, and you may never know. Three quick checks, once a month:

1️⃣ Send a test enquiry. Fill in the form just like a customer would.
2️⃣ Check it arrives. Look in your inbox and your spam folder.
3️⃣ Try it on your phone. Many visitors browse on mobile.

It only takes a few minutes and makes sure no customer message goes missing. Share this with whoever looks after your website πŸ‘‡

πŸŽ₯ Video call freezing mid-meeting? Before you blame the line, rule out the basics. Most causes take only minutes to check, and a frozen call in front of a client is never a good look.

Three quick fixes:
1️⃣ Close what you do not need. Pause big uploads, cloud backups and extra browser tabs.
2️⃣ Sit closer or plug in. A network cable beats weak Wi-Fi every time.
3️⃣ Test before you join. Check your mic, camera and headset a few minutes early.

Still freezing? Note the time and what you were doing, it helps your IT team find the cause faster. Share this with your team πŸ‘‡

🌐 Website Tip Wednesday: does your website have a privacy page? Contact forms collect names, emails and phone numbers. Visitors like to know what happens to that information, and it is good practice under the PDPA.

Three quick checks for your website:
1️⃣ Add a privacy page. Say in plain words what data you collect and why.
2️⃣ Link it near every form, so visitors can see it before they press send.
3️⃣ Keep it up to date. Review it whenever your forms or tools change.

Try it today. It only takes a few minutes and builds trust with new customers.

πŸ” Cyber Tip Tuesday: did a supplier just email you new bank details?

Scammers copy real supplier emails and ask businesses to pay into a different account. The invoice looks normal, so many only find out when the real supplier asks why they were not paid.

Three quick checks before you pay:
1️⃣ Call the supplier. Use a number you already have, not the one in the email.
2️⃣ Check the sender address. Look for small spelling changes.
3️⃣ Use a second approval. One person checks, another person pays.

Make it a team rule: no bank detail change by email alone. Share this with whoever handles payments πŸ‘‡

πŸ–₯️ Monday IT tip: who can remote into your computers? Remote access tools are handy for support, but a forgotten one is an open back door. Many offices have old remote apps still installed from a past vendor or an ex-staff member, and nobody remembers they are there.

Three quick checks this week:
1️⃣ List every remote access tool installed on your office PCs. Check for apps your team no longer uses.
2️⃣ Remove old or unknown access. Ex-staff and old vendors should not keep a way in.
3️⃣ Protect what stays. Use strong passwords and two-step login.

Not sure what is installed on your computers? Your IT support can check in minutes. WhatsApp us at +6013-256 2218 anytime.

☁️ FAQ: "We use Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, so our email is already backed up, right?"

Not quite. These services keep your email and files available, but that is not the same as a backup. A few things worth knowing:

1. Deleted items are only kept for a limited time, then they are gone.
2. Ransomware, a bad sync or a mistaken bulk delete can overwrite your good copies.
3. A separate backup gives you a safe copy to restore from.

Ask your IT support what is actually covered for your business, and test a restore at least once.
