How to stay consistent with programming until you make it to your dream job 🧵👇

(Inspired by Atomic Habits)

1. Make it fun

Don't care about being "correct" all the time when you start out. Have fun with the language! Write a 100-line messy code to find your celebrity crush - and post it on twitter.
You enjoyed - that's what matters.

2. Make it easy

Do not attempt to make a web3 version of twitter as your first project. Build simple stuff - a calculator that can add 2 numbers or an app that tells me how many letters I have in my name.

You need to build confidence slowly.

3. Make it attractive

See how much programming professionally pays, or plan how your dream app could make you a millionaire.

Feel motivated? Now go make it a reality.

4. Make it challenging

Like gaming, programming is only fun when it gets a bit harder with each level you clear.

Done with the basic calculator app? Now make it take complete expressions like 2 + ((2 / 3) * 8) or use third party apis to solve complete equations.

5. Make it inevitable

Announce your journey on twitter or code together with your buddy - so when you lose all motivation, they'll poke you and get you back to coding.

Bonus: Fill your social media feed with programming posts. When you see it everywhere, especially other people doing well, you feel motivated to do well yourself.

THEY FEEL THE SAME WAY EVERY DAY ...

Let's be honest
We all know making decisions is not easy.
But some people can never make up their minds.
Do you know someone like that?

People who cannot make a decision without overthinking things.
Even a simple question like:
Do you want another piece of cake?

Creates a battle in their heads.
And when they finally make up their minds,
They start regretting not having chosen the other option.

And the worst is ...
They have the same attitude in every area of their lives.
They do not have a clear purpose.
They don't know what to do with their lives.
Maybe they've already accomplished a lot.

Still, every day they feel the same.
They have a vague idea of where they want to go in life, but it is far from clear.
They have no passion.
Like they were just wondering through life with no clear direction of where they want to go ...

They think they should already know what they want out of life.
But they don't.
And that makes them feel bad.
Confused.
Lost.

They talk to their friends who know what they want to achieve in life.
And they feel like a failure because they don't.
If this is your case though, don't worry.
After all...

All successful people have gone through a period where they felt they had no clear direction.
But, I also have good news for you.
You don't have to keep living your life disoriented.

Instead, you can be that person who is very clear about what he wants to achieve.
A person who has no doubts.

How?
Here are 5 steps to design your life and live it well.
First, be honest with yourself.
Ask yourself these questions:
What do you need to change in your life?
What do you need to act on?

Be honest with yourself when you reply.
If you are going to design your life correctly, you must start with a foundation of honesty and openness.
Now when you're honest with yourself, you may come up with a lot of things that you want to take action on.

These can vary in size and effort.
Buy a new mattress to improve the quality of your sleep.
Sell your house and move to the country to be closer to nature.
Regardless of what comes up, keep a list of all the things that will bring you closer to your well-lived life...

This is where the second step comes in.
Prioritize.
Doing too much at once will be overwhelming.
Find out what is most important to you.

What will make the biggest difference?
If you could act on one thing on your list,
What would that be?
Why?

Third, set a deadline.
This is about holding yourself accountable.
Once you have your list made and prioritized, setting a deadline will help you take action.

And don't change decisions lightly.
At the same time, if you set a deadline and don't meet it, don't beat yourself up.
Just give yourself a short extension and get back on track.

Fourth, don't push yourself.
When you decide to design your life and act on something difficult, you must celebrate.
If you fail, you should be proud you even tried.
The outside world is already putting a lot of pressure on us to be more, do more, and have more.
Adding internal pressure to external pressure will do more harm than good.
Instead, focus on supporting yourself and offering unconditional self-love.

And lastly, embrace life.
It's good that you want to do better, but not at the expense of hating everything about your life now.
Now and then, embrace the life you have.
Allow yourself to feel excited for what's to come.

Remember...
You are more likely to act on something if you are excited about it.
You will see that after taking these steps...
You will have a clear picture of how you want your life to be

No internal battles.
No more doubts.
You will know exactly where you want to go.
And you will go after it.
You will start to stop seeing yourself as a failure.
You will understand that you are capable and that you always have been.
You just lacked a little direction in your life.

Remember ...
It's not just about living life.
It's about living it well.
In harmony.
Without regrets
