Let's address this 👇👇👇
A lot of people have asked me, “Sir Victor, is it okay to do free designs?”
My answer is yes—but only at the beginning stage of your design journey.
When you're just starting out, offering free designs can help you gain visibility, build your portfolio, improve your skills, and earn people's trust. At that stage, you're not just working for money; you're also working for experience, credibility, and recognition.
However, as you grow and become more skilled, there comes a time when you need to let people know that your services are no longer free. Your time, creativity, and expertise have value, and people should be willing to pay for the value you provide.
That said, there may still be occasions when you choose to design for free. Perhaps it's for someone who has greatly impacted your life, a close friend, a mentor, or a cause you genuinely care about. We cannot ignore the importance of relationships and goodwill.
But making free designs for everyone, all the time, is simply not sustainable. If you constantly work without getting paid, it becomes difficult to grow your business, invest in yourself, and even meet your personal needs.
So, be wise. Know when to give freely and know when to charge for your value. As the Bible says, “Wisdom is profitable to direct.”
That's my advice
