I’ve been thinking about this lately.
Some bosses are difficult to work with they’re demanding, impatient, bad communicators, or just have personalities that clash with yours.
But at what point does a “difficult boss” cross the line into being genuinely toxic?
Is it things like:
● Constantly humiliating employees
● Micromanaging everything
● Taking credit for your work
● Blaming employees for their own mistakes
● Contacting you constantly outside work hours
● Playing favorites
● Making you feel like you’re always walking on eggshells
● Threatening your job or career
● Making you dread going to work
Or do you think some of these things are just part of having a difficult manager?
I’m curious where people draw the line. Have you ever worked for someone you initially thought was just “difficult,” but eventually realized the situation was actually toxic?
