A Liverpool fan is crying about Arsenal spending £50M on Ezri Konsa as a replacement for Saliba while he is out for three months. The irony is almost unbelievable.
Somehow, he has forgotten that Liverpool spent a ridiculous £125M on Isak and £79M on Ekitike. One is already being labelled a flop, while the other is still a potential work in progress. Yet after all that spending, Liverpool still finished 5th.
And let’s not forget the £449M they reportedly spent on players last summer. Nearly half a billion pounds, only to end the season outside the Champions League places.
They were even fortunate that English clubs performed strongly in Europe, because without that coefficient boost, that 5th place finish could have meant Europa League football.
So before Liverpool fans start lecturing Arsenal about spending, perhaps they should look at their own transfer history first. Arsenal are strengthening the squad because we have a title to defend and a long season ahead. Losing a key defender for three months and bringing in quality cover is called squad management, not panic spending.
The difference is simple: Arsenal are spending from a position of strength.
We are the champions. 🏆
Liverpool fans can keep talking. We’ll keep building. 😂
