The mentorship training has been very productive so far and we are glad to write a report on the fourth week of the programme.

For the fourth week, the participants were mentored by CEFE from the Entrepreneurship Centre in person of Mrs Agatha on Go-to-market strategy which had to do with defining a unique value proposition for a product, developing a business model canvas (BMC) to outline a strategy for success, identifying the target market, competition analysis and so much more.

The coordinator brought a template to show the participants what BMC (business model canvas) looked like and it's just a plain sheet where key points or important things which includes value proposition to customer relationship, customer segment, key partners, ICT infrastructures, key activities, key resources, cost structures, revenue streams and channels.

BMC is a layout guide for a startup founder to arrange in a strategic order the important part of their business.

The coordinator stated that "if you have value without a market, then you don't have value" which meant that marketing is key in portraying value.

She also made mentioned that "a business owner should be an opportunity seeker, a risk taker and a problem solver."

The participants as developing founders were given points on how to deal with difficult customers, were given recommendations on platforms for e-marketing and were also given points on how to engage and retain their customers.

With the lecture they received, the participants now had enough knowledge on how to treat their customers and were eager to implement marketing strategies in their startup journey.

We are delighted to report the successful mentorship training activities conducted during the second week of the FUTEC Tech Startup Incubation Program.
The participants received guidance from two mentors, Mr. Isreal Kizito and Bello Abdulkudus Onuchi on idea validation and product design prototyping, respectively.

Mr. Isreal Kizito shared a framework for idea validation. He emphasized the need to write down ideas, immerse oneself in a problem to find a solution, and let ideas go through stages of development. Identifying a target market, being passionate, and building trust were also key points he highlighted for success.

Bello Abdulkudus, an experienced product designer, highlighted the significance of creating user-centric solutions. He guided participants through the design thinking process, using techniques such as user personas and wireframing to design products that align with user needs and preferences.

The participants had an engaging session where they were divided into groups to practice what they had learned from the mentors and apply those principles and techniques. Group One generated an idea, group two designed a problem statement, and the third group came up with a fantastic solution to the idea generated from the problem statement.

Overall, the participants demonstrated extraordinary commitment during the mentorship sessions. They are well on their way to piloting their journey from idea concept to idea validation and building a product that meets the needs of the targeted end users in their startup ventures.
