Having realistic expectations is really important in both life and business.
It's been my compass, helping me to avoid disappointments and heartbreaks. As I've learned to look at trends and data to understand what's going to happen in the future, I've realised that surprises are pretty rare. Instead, it's usually a series of connected events, each leading to the next.
This has made me think about being more intentional and deliberate about what I can control. It's about recognizing what I can control and focusing my efforts there. For matters beyond my control, I plan strategically, positioning myself and my resources thoughtfully, to avoid being blindsided or distracted by irrelevancies and circumstances beyond my reach.
This lesson isn't just for my personal life; it's also for my business. Just as in life, in business, having realistic expectations is key to navigating challenges and seizing opportunities. By putting this principle into practice in my career, I hope to build resilience, foresight and ultimately, sustainable success.
