🌍 KDIN Takes Climate Action to the Next Generation – Bayero University Staff School, Kano 🌱
On Wednesday, 11th February 2026, KDIN once again demonstrated its commitment to humanitarian service and community development in Northern Nigeria through a Climate Change Sensitization Programme held at Bayero University Staff School, Kano.
As an organization rooted in the North and driven by the spirit of tallafawa al’umma (community support), KDIN understands that meaningful change begins with knowledge — especially among young minds.
The session commenced with an introduction, after which Hassana engaged the students in an interactive discussion on the meaning of climate change. The children shared their thoughts confidently, showing that even at a young age, awareness is growing. She then provided a comprehensive explanation of climate change, its causes, effects, and how it connects to everyday life — from excessive heat to flooding and environmental degradation.
To ensure inclusiveness and cultural relevance, Mallam Abubakar Sabo Sale translated and expanded on the key points in Hausa, making the session relatable and impactful. Through practical questions about the environment and cleanliness, he reminded the students of a timeless Hausa proverb:
“Tsabta rabin imani.”
(Cleanliness is half of faith.)
He emphasized that protecting our environment is not just a global responsibility — it is a moral and communal duty.
The programme coordinator, Mrs Thank-God, reinforced the key messages, summarizing the discussions and stressing the importance of environmental sustainability. Mr. Yusuf also delivered further explanations in Hausa, ensuring that every student felt included and fully understood the message.
The event concluded with an engaging Question & Answer session where students actively participated and shared their views. To encourage confidence and participation — because yara su ne gobe (children are tomorrow) — KDIN awarded ₦1,000 and gifts to the first three outstanding participants, while other participating students received ₦500 each. This gesture created excitement, motivation, and a positive learning atmosphere.
At KDIN, we believe that empowering young minds today secures a greener and more sustainable Northern Nigeria tomorrow. Climate action is not just a conversation for global summits — it begins in our schools, our homes, and our communities.
Together, we can nurture a generation that values the environment, respects nature, and understands that safeguarding the earth is safeguarding our future.
