NOT WITHOUT INSPIRATION

When my Pastor Olajubu David told me it was time to start the design for the flyer... It was in the team's meeting, and every one was handed his/her assignment

One thing I could hold vividly from his conversations in that meeting was that he demanded that we all bring in our A-game into the ex*****on of every single task given each and everyone.

One thing I admire about my Pastor is how when he assigns tasks, he still follows through to guide us... He won't go to sleep on it... What a powerful leadership quality he possess...

He started showing & sending me different samples... Because the truth about graphic designing is that... Every professional designer gets inspiration from somewhere. You can't design without inspiration.

Infact, this is how he has been mentoring me in graphic designing from time past till I got to the level I am presently, he'll most times come with the idea, while I give image to the idea.

Our church Destiny Moulders Int'l Church has had two logo designs before this current one we now use. I designed them all starting from the days of photogrid😆 which I used for the first logo. And guess what, all was inspired by Pst Dave... He does the conceptualization while I do the visualisation 🔥

Finally, combining inspiration and creativity, I was able to come up with this design. Now, see how beautiful it is in printing. Last year's flyer wasn't has beautiful as this and definitely next year's own will even be more powerful because I won't stay here, I'll keep learning to get better!!!

START FROM SOMEWHERE!!!

I never thought that a time will come that I will start referring to my self as a graphic designer not to talk of me receiving graphic design job from clients who now pay for my services in thousands of naira...

I even now hold trainings online to teach graphic design skills.

I've also just concluded my first book smartphone graphics 1.0 which is already in my drive waiting to be released.

It all began some years back with my father in faith Olajubu David who I used to follow then to the printing press then to print our church flyers Destiny Moulders Int'l Church. Mehn! The whole process of having to sit down for long hours and watch our graphic designer then in her not-too-spacious office with crowds of people coming in & out choke us... Meanwhile it's already about 2hours later, yet she has not started our work, still on other people's work... Then maybe about going to 3hours she manage and rush to do our work...

Those designs use to be very full of colours😆 and beautiful to us then... What do you expect? Graphic novince like us 😆😆 Already exhausted from the long wait, we'll still be the one to go and buy materials for the printing and take them to various shops for completion. This was before DI became common like we have it now. And that was how I started learning printing, getting familiarized with all sort of printing terms and paper sizes.

I never knew it was a process I needed to go through or school I needed to attend without paying tuition fee to be a graphic designer 😆 The whole process us going through those stress bores me, I was looking for something easier such that we can get our flyers without having to go and sit for long hours.

Then, somehow I stumbled on this app called photogrid... Not many including me knew that the app can be used for graphic design. One-day we were going to have a programme then I started playing around the app and I produced something that can be tagged funny, I showed Pst. Dave so he could laugh too😆😆

But what I met after showing him was what made me a graphic designer today. He loved it and took it serious. The first flyer you are seeing in this post was made with photogrid. A design I made for our then destiny convention now .

You can compare and contrast😆😆 the level of knowledge I have now acquired to have gotten to this level and I'm still not settling in because learning is forever.

Over the years, thanks to God for some few paid & free trainings I had attended, I have come to master smartphone graphics.

I also understand that it's not a matter of the device you are using, whether laptop of phone nor does the application/software: be it Photoshop, Corel draw, Pixellab, Canva, e.t.c. what matters most is how well you can use those applications & softwares, the depth of your knowledge and your creativity.

I mean it doesn't have to be complicated, simplicity still matters in this life. With this simple skill of mine, I've served both individuals, firms & Organizations both locally and internationally all with my Android phone in all manners of products ranging from branding, logo, wedding cards, business cards, banners, flyers, birthdays greetings, jotters, letter headed designs, video adverts e.t.c just to mention few.
