Fubara Drops Guber Bid, Wraps Exit in 'Sacrifice' – But Read Between the Lines
Governor Siminalayi Fubara has officially stepped aside from the APC gubernatorial primaries in Rivers State. His reason? Sacrifice. His timing? Curious.
In a lengthy statement released today, Fubara announced his withdrawal after what he called "deep reflection and extensive consultations." He urged supporters to accept the decision as a necessary move for peace, stability, and the greater good of the state.
But buried beneath the proverbs and praise for President Tinubu is a man who admits to facing "immense pressures and difficult choices." He also noted that his silence over this period was "deliberate and strategic."
Translation? Something—or someone—forced his hand.
He insists he stepped aside "not out of weakness, fear, or surrender." Yet he offers no clear explanation of what actually happened behind the scenes. Supporters who poured time, resources, and prayers into his campaign are left with only this: a graceful exit dressed as heroism.
As Fubara puts it himself: "Not everything a hunter sees in the forest is spoken of in the marketplace."
Fair enough. But in politics, silence usually speaks the loudest.
