[CLZ News] Now live: “Custom Fields” for the CLZ mobile apps!

This is Alwin, head of CLZ, with the July 2026 edition of the CLZ newsletter. And this time, it is a “one-topic” newsletter, all about “Custom Fields” (previously known as “User Defined Fields”).

This week, on Wednesday, we finished our biggest project ever, something that most of the CLZ team has been working on since late 2025: the implementation of the “Custom Fields” feature. Near the end of February this year, we launched this feature for all 5 flavors of the CLZ Web cloud-based software. Then, over the past 2 weeks, we released big v11.0 updates for all 5 CLZ mobile apps, bringing the custom fields to the “small screen”.

Additionally, with the release of the mobile app updates, you can now cloud sync your custom fields definitions and their data seamlessly between the Web-based software on your computer and the mobile app on your phone or tablet.
Actually, that syncing was the most complex and time-consuming part of the entire project and also the main reason why we procrastinated on this custom fields project for many years 🙂 But we finally made it happen!

** CLZ Comics 11.0 is live! **

This is it, the fifth and last of our five v11 releases for the mobile app, introduce the huge Custom Fields feature.
We were planning to release v11 for CLZ Comics a week ago, but our friends at Apple sure took their time reviewing this one.
Oh well, it's here now!

Here we go! Coming up, 5 big version 11.0 releases for all 5 CLZ mobile apps!

Now live: CLZ Music 11.0!

Version 11 is a huge step forward in the customizability of the app. And I am not talking about tweaking the look and feel here, like layout, colors, fonts, etc… No… this time we are giving you the ability to actually customize the database itself, with your own “Custom Fields“!

The Custom Fields feature will let you create your own data fields, to catalog any information for which the app does not have a built-in field. You can create text fields, number fields, date fields, Yes/No toggles, pick list fields and much more.

All fields you create can be edited on a special Custom Fields tab of the Edit Album screen. The entered data will nicely appear in a special section on the album details page. And of course, you will be able to use the fields like any built-in fields, that is, sort on them, use pick list, date and toggle fields as folders, search your text fields, etc..

We aim to release CLZ Games 11.0 later this week. Then next week, CLZ Books, CLZ Movies and CLZ Comics.

I know, I know, I am one day late. Yesterday, June 30, we had a celebration with the entire CLZ team, celebrating a big milestone for the company, as we had reached a record number of subscribers for our software and apps. I am afraid I can’t disclose how many, but it is a LOT 🙂 So this means the CLZ Team can keep investing in more improvements, new features and the quality and completeness of our Core databases!
We met at a local hotel, for a speech by yours truly, then drinks, then dinner. we stayed at the hotel overnight too and ended the festivities with a luxurious breakfast buffet. Lots of fun!
The team is back at home again now, ready for work (and NCBD of course!). For me, time to write this June 2026 newsletter. Here we go:

Maybe the most important news is: we are very very close to the launch of the Custom Fields feature for the mobile apps! ETA: mid July! More info below.

Finally, this month we again released two nice features/improvements for the CLZ Web software. Cover thumbnails in the list view, and better keyboard support, mainly in the Edit screen. Full details further down.

** CLZ Web: Add more images! **

Another big update for the CLZ Web software today, which brings further ways to customize your collection entries.

This updates adds a new My Images tab, that lets you add up to 5 extra images to each entry! That is next to the existing customizable Front and Back cover. You can use it to store more images/photos of your collectibles.

Just open the entry in the Edit screen and switch to the new “My Images” tab. You can add a maximum of 5 extra images per comic. Either:
* Drop an image file from your computer
* Paste an image from your clipboard
* Or click the empty slot to pick an image file from your computer

For each image, you have 2 fields:
* Description (for example: Grading label close-up, Signature, Spine crease, etc.)
* Image Type (for example: Signature, Interior page, Disc, Cartridge, etc..)
Drag and drop the image cards to re-order them. You can also crop and rotate the images.

Your extra images will appear in the Details panel at the bottom. Click any image to see a larger version, then use the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard to flip through all images for that item.

** [CLZ News] Filter links for Web / Custom YouTube trailers for CLZ Games **

CLZ Alwin here, with the CLZ Newsletter for April 2026.

This month, one big and powerful update for all 5 Web editions: the ability to easily filter your collection by clicking hyperlinks in your item details panel. E.g. click a Genre name and instantly find all your collectibles in that genre. And judging from early feedback, you all are absolutely loving it! 🙂 (some feedback examples below).

One other release this month: a small “customizability” update for the CLZ Games mobile app, you can now add your own YouTube trailer links! Plus a CLZ Core for Comics improvement related to Vampirella comics, requiring a simple Update from Core action. Instructions below.

Also, some nice “mentions” online this month, for both CLZ Movies and CLZ Games, which has caused a huge flow of new sign ups, nice! Read about them below.

What about future releases? What is cooking, what is coming up soon (or later)? The main things the CLZ team is working on at the moment are the “Add more images” feature for Web (ETA next week!!) and the Custom Fields for the mobile apps (ETA: within 2 months?). But we have some other “secret” projects too, will tell you more about those later.

** [CLZ News] Faster down-syncing / add your own game YT videos **

This is Alwin, from CLZ, bringing you our monthly news for March 2026. Most of the dev team is caught up in big undertakings at the moment, so that means very few updates this month.

Mobile developers Pim and Bernard are implementing the huge Custom Fields feature for the mobile app. Web developer Joe is adding the ability to add more images for the CLZ Web software. Web developer Michiel is “making more things clickable” in the CLZ Web details panels (I’ll explain below, under What’s Cooking).

Finally… lead developer Sven is doing early research into some cool feature ideas we have. Yeah, I know, that is even more vague, but it’s all I can say at the moment. Will tell you more once I know more!

** Faster down-syncing from CLZ Cloud **

This week, we are going to release 5 updates for all 5 CLZ mobile apps. No new features here, but an important improvement to an existing one: the CLZ Cloud syncing. Our mobile developers Pim and Bernard have implemented three changes that will make the down-syncing of new items from the CLZ Cloud to your app a LOT faster!

The syncing now down-syncs the *data* first, while queuing the *image* downloads. This will make the data sync super fast.
Downloading the images is much quicker too, especially on fast connections, as it downloads multiple images at the same time.
As soon as the data download has completed, you can close the Sync screen and start using the app. The image downloads will continue at the bottom of the main screen, prioritising images that are “in view”.

The improvement in speed will be most noticeable when re-downloading your complete CLZ Cloud database, e.g.

* After installing the app on a new device
* After removing and re-installing the app
* After Clearing the Database

However, even during normal use, e.g. when syncing between devices, or between the app and the CLZ Web software, you will find the down-syncing to be much faster than before.

This update is now live for CLZ Music and CLZ Games. Coming up for CLZ Movies, CLZ Movies and CLZ Comics.

** New in CLZ Games Web: **
Add your own YouTube trailer links

A handy update for CLZ Games Web! YouTube trailers for games typically come straight from our Core database, but now you can replace the standard Core YouTube trailer with a trailer of your own choice, or add one if we Core didn’t provide one.

Just paste any YouTube URL into your the YouTube trailer link section (Edit Game, then click the Links tab) and CLZ Games Web automatically grabs the thumbnail image and video description for you.

Add as many as you like per game, then drag them into your preferred order.
