There we go, the first CLZ Newsletter for 2026. This is CLZ Alwin.

We’re off to a good start, with several smaller updates for the CLZ mobile apps: a cosmetic upgrade for CLZ Comics, aimed at slab collectors, an often requested (read: demanded) new setting for CLZ Books and 5 performance improving updates for all 5 Android apps.

Next to that, most of the team is working on 2 big project that will hopefull reach launch before the next newsletter: Our mobile deveopers Pim and Bernard are implementing all the recently introduced new book fields to the CLZ Books mobile app, including the reading history. More details below.
Then, there is the BIG ONE, the introduction of Custom Fields (aka User Defined Fields) in the CLZ Web software. Read on below for the first Sneak Preview screenshots!

The topics today:

* CLZ Comics v10.7: Slab frames now also available in images and list views
* CLZ apps for Android: Smoother navigation between folders, list and details
* CLZ Books: New setting to disable book values + search your app by ISBN10
* CLZ Core for Comics: Earlier inclusion of Manga, TPBs/HCs and regular comics

FYI: We are currently experiencing a problem with our CLZ Cloud site and CLZ Web software. Users are reporting that their collections are not loading.

We have just found the cause of the problem and CLZ Sven and I are working on a solution. Should be up and running again within an hour.

My apologies for the inconvenience!

[CLZ News] “One-by-One” barcode scanner / Coming up: Custom Fields!

On this Saturday, let’s go over the CLZ News for November 2025.

This month saw five big releases for the mobile apps, with a surprise addition to the “Add by Barcode” feature. Not something that was directly requested by users, but still, we’re sure that many of you will like the new one-by-one mode!

No other releases this month, as most of the team is working on two larger multi-month projects: New fields for CLZ Books and the Custom Fields for CLZ Web. I will go over both projects in the Coming Up section below.

The topics today:
* Live for all 5 mobile apps: One-by-one mode for adding by barcode
* CLZ Comics 10.5: Easily open any series in the Series tab
* Coming up for CLZ Books: Several new data fields, inc. Reading History.
* Coming up for CLZ Web and Mobile: create your own Custom Fields!

New update for all CLZ mobile apps:
Automatic eBay search links

You may have already read about this when we introduced the eBay links in the CLZ Web software, but… today we are introducing the same feature in all CLZ mobile apps:
The apps now includes automatically generated eBay search links, that let you find eBay listings for your items:

These eBay links can be useful to:

* easily get a feel for an album’s value, by finding its’ Completed/Sold listings on eBay.
* easily find available copies on eBay (e.g. for your wish list items)

** [CLZ News] CLZ Movies with new fields / Transfer Field Data for CLZ Web **

CLZ Alwin here, with the CLZ News for September 2025. I know, I am one day late. Yesterday was a bit too hectic with the big CLZ Movies releases, so I had to postpone the newsletter, sorry!

But yes, that immediately brings us to THE big news for September: the long awaited updates for CLZ Movies, but web and mobile, are finally live! For Web, just log in to enjoy the new features, for the mobile app, update your app to version 10.0.

More Web news: a new feature had been added for all CLZ Web flavors, a new “Transfer Field Data” tool, which you can use for copying or moving data between fields.

And… at the end of this newsletter, I am doing a “What’s Cooking?” section again, that is, a quick summary of everything that is in progress at this very moment. Which includes the disclosure of the secret project I announced last month, the biggest CLZ Web project in recent years. Don’t miss this big reveal!

It’s August 30, so here’s the CLZ Newsletter for August 2025.

We started the month with the promised update for the CLZ Comics mobile app, in which we take the most popular feature, Adding Comics by Scanning Covers, to the next level.

For the rest of the month, most of the dev team (Pim, Bernard, Michiel and AJ) have been working on the upcoming updates for CLZ Movies, both mobile and web. It started out as a relatively small update in which we would add some new fields (just like we did for the books and music apps recently). However, the update has grown into a huge major upgrade, with several big new features that have been on our “to do” list for many years.
It will bring: editable episode lists, add your own youtube trailers, a full watch history with multiple watch dates, and more! Check out the Sneak Preview below (with screenshots!).

Finally, lead developer Sven is preparing for the biggest CLZ Web project in recent years. Something users have been requesting for ages. But also a project we have been procrastinating for ages too, if only for the size and complexity. But it is finally going to happen this year. I can’t tell you what it is yet, but if you have been with us for a while, you can probably guess what it is :-).

The topics today:
* CLZ Comics 10.3 (mobile): Easier and faster Adding by Cover!
* Sneak Preview: CLZ Movies updates (web and mobile) with many new fields

CLZ Comics v10.3 is here:
Easier and faster Adding by Cover!

In December 2024, we introduced a cool new way to add comics to your app: just scan the cover!
No more need to scan the barcode, no more need to find series by title and/or issue number… Just take a picture of the cover and the app shows you possible matches. Pick the right one and add it to your collection. Easy, fast… and.. everyone can do it, even if your knowledge of the comic world is limited.

Now, we expected this feature to be a hit, mainly for comics that do not have a barcode, or maybe for comics that have the barcode on the back cover. However, the Cover Scanner turned out to be way more popular than anticipated and by now it has grown to be the most popular feature in the app and, somewhat surprisingly, the main way for most users to add their comics, even for comics that do have a barcode.

So… it’s time for the next step. Let’s make this feature even faster and easier! Here’s what’s new in today’s version 10.3 update:
* Easier and quicker match selection
* New queue mode for adding in batch
* New two-panel layout for tablets in landscape mode

* Easier and quicker match selection
We took another look at the match selection screen. That is, the screen that shows after you take a picture of the cover, where you select your comic from a screen of possible matches. One small annoyance of this screen, in our opinion, was the “Confirm ..” popup after tapping your match. It felt a bit unnecessary, one tap too many.
So we sat down and re-designed this screen from scratch. We flipped it up-side-down, with the possible matches now showing at the top, in a horizontal scroller, and the selected match showing full-width at the bottom, with a big cover and full issue details.
Tap the Add to Collection button at the bottom right to immediately proceed to the Pre-fill screen. One step less for every comic you add!

* New queue mode for adding in batch
When we introduced the Add by Cover feature last year, we designed it as a one-by-one process, without a queue. Unlike the Add By Barcode feature, which always uses a queue. Our reasoning behind this: when scanning covers you have to manually select a match in most cases, so queuing would never be as quick and seamless as when scanning barcodes.
But right after launch of the Add by Cover feature, we did receive requests and complaints from a handful of users, saying:
“why is there no queue??? it is too slow to do this one by one!”
I admit, I was against adding a queue at first, I was afraid it would not make things much faster. But, just for fun, we tried to make a design that integrates an optional queue and that looked quite promising.
So our mobile developers Pim and Bernard implemented a rudimentary version in the app. And, after trying their test build, AJ and I were impressed, it feels really fast and snappy! So we decided to integrated the queue in this new version.
The add to queue is really quick, no confirmation popups whatsoever, just scan, add to queue, scan, add to queue… Then when done scanning, go to the queue and add all queued issues in one go, going through the Pre-fill screen just once.
Of course, using the queue is optional, you can still use the Cover Scanner to add your comics one by one!

* New two-panel layout for tablets in landscape mode
When we introduced the Add by Cover feature, we created a quick and dirty version for tablet use, just to make sure we could get that big app release out there ASAP. But for this update, we took the time to create a better user interface, one that makes better use of the big screen.
On tablets, in landscape/horizontal mode, the Add by Cover screen now uses two panels side by side. The camera screen on the left, the match selector on the right.

* [CLZ News] New data fields for CLZ Music, eBay links for Web *

All CLZ news for July 2025, summarized in one email.
Two big releases this month, with a 3rd one coming up within a few days, maybe even tomorrow.

First up is the addition of several new data fields to our CLZ Music tools, both mobile and web. Users are loving the new fields, especially the Listening History.

The 2nd update, for all five CLZ Web flavors, received some mixed feedback. Most users absolute love the addition of the automatic eBay search links, but a small group of users hated it with a passion.
Which is why we made it optional from the start. But… based on the feedback, we have tweaked the look and placement of the links. Now things have quieted down in our support channels… phew, crisis averted!

We had planned to do a third big release this month, but it got delayed a bit. I am talking about the improvements to the popular Add By Cover Scan feature in the CLZ Comics mobile app. The final tweaks have just been implemented though, so we hope to submit to the apples and googles for approval today!

More about the above 3 updates and 2 other ongoing products:

* CLZ Music (web and mobile): New data fields
* CLZ Web (all flavors): Automatic eBay search links
* Coming up: CLZ Comics 10.3 (mobile): Easier and faster Adding by Cover!
* Coming up: CLZ Movies updates (web and mobile) with many new fields

** CLZ Music v10.0 is here, with new fields! **

Version 10.0 is here, with several new data fields requested by our users:
* Matrix numbers for vinyl
* Signed By
* Last Cleaned Date for vinyl
* Listening History

Matrix numbers for vinyl
In the Edit Album screen, on the Tracks tab, you can now fill in Matrix Numbers for each disc, for both Side A and Side B.
In the details page for an album, these Matrix Numbers are shown in the disc header above the track list, between the brackets.

Signed By
Track who signed your CDs and vinyl records. On the Personal tab of the Edit screen, add the names of the persons who signed your albums. Then in the main screen, use Signed By folder to group your albums by signee. Or use the Signed folders to split your albums into Signed and Unsigned folders.

Last Cleaned Date
Another special Vinyl field, to keep track of when you last cleaned your discs. Use the new Sort Option “Last Cleaned Date” to sort your albums by the date you last cleaned them.
(Don’t worry, if you also clean your CDs, you have my personal permission to use it for CDs too!)

Listening History
Track if and when you have listened to albums. You can even add multiple listen dates, so that you can keep a nice listening history for each album. Tip: use the folder feature to group by Listen Year, Listen Month, or Listen Date to get a nice overview of which albums you listened to for each period.
Use the new Sort Option “Last Listened Date” to sort your albums by the last date you listened to them.
Check out the new Listened section under Statistics to find:
* A “Listened to” pie chart, showing your Listened and Not Listened albums
* A “Most Listened to” top list, showing the albums you most frequently listened to.
* A “Most recently listened” top list, showing the album you most recently listened to.
