Getting ready for Kunstmarkt Hoorn this Sunday meant practising the new method on real faces. A few of you sent photos over, trusting that I’d create something special, and a friend I had coffee with kindly consented to having her photo taken there and then. Thank you all, it made a real difference!

One Sunday evening, I received an order through my website. I opened it, curious to see who I’d be painting. Instead of a person, I found this furry face looking back at me. I mostly paint people, so this was a surprise, and inadvertently put a smile on my face ☺️

Last May, I sat outside Haargezelschap to paint live. A few people passed by and smiled, some stopped to chat, others hurried by on their weekend errands.

This portrait of 3 generations was one of the commissions on the day. I don’t typically paint groups live but the occasion was Mother’s Day and it felt that an exception should be made for this session 🥹

I’m glad I did because it feels special to be able to capture a family together, in a moment of time, and see the bond they have with each other.

This was commissioned as a Mother’s Day gift but this sort of family portrait can be gifted year round! I paint from photos so there’s no pressure to have everyone together.
