Today is Earth day, which is a STRONG reminder of protecting the mother, restoring what has been lost due to our continuous greed. Know that I am yelling this to you! I wanted to share some moments of my life when I had one of the strongest connections to Earth. Friends who know me, they know how I keep talking about this particular memory each and every time a related topic comes up. I might sound repetitive and boring, but I will not stop saying this, until everyone realizes how important it is for them to know why we even LIVE.
It was November 2017, I went to a village in Chiang Mai, to volunteer and take the course of permaculture and natural building in Pun Pun Organic Farm. It changed my ideologies forever. Whatever I am doing right now at this very moment, it’s all connected to those parts of my life. I will leave this up to you so swipe, see and read what I mean.

'Illustrating letters from women'
"Woman and the city' is an interdisciplinary project that sheds light on the challenges faced by girls and women living/working in the cities of Bangladesh. The project is initiated by Dhaka Memory in collaboration with ZK/U Berlin to explore art-engaged activation and generate critical dialogues on gender-equal city planning.
Dhaka Memory team started a conversation by inviting women and girls of Dhaka to write an “open letter to my city” to share their thoughts, experiences and aspirations that surrounds their life and this city. Later, a group of 30 artists gathered together to portray those letters in visual stories as it revealed so much that needed to be heard immediately.

Read: https://contextbd.com/west-bengal-boshotbari-letter-22/

On this day , I wanted to share about Khawna, whose verses rules the life and culture of rural Bangladesh.
Khawnaa/Khana (800AD - 1200AD) , a Bengali poet and fabled astrologer, who composed in early medieval Bengali. Her tongue was cut off as she was threat-fully knowledgeable to the kingdom of men.

"Tangible and intangible knowledge hidden in the land of Bangladesh - the land of rivers. The vibrant palette characterizes the lifestyle and celebratory atmosphere. The local communal life ingrained in the paddy fields and rivers is as organic as it appears. All these elements together tell a story of the land itself."
The most satisfying work I have done this year. Thanks a lot to for being a wonderful client in this process.

(21 February | International mother language day)

"The month long book fair was always the biggest event for me in February. The emotion for language movement was also enormously high. I could never hold my tears while reading Zaheer Raihan's 'Arek Falgun' and 'Ekushey February'. Never even thought of walking on the premises of Shahid Minar with my shoes on. Just like that, Flamboyant will always be my favourite flower.

Amid all this, when I see that people at home and abroad have no idea about this internationally recognized day, I wonder if I have no duty to tell people about the identity of our tiny land. To fulfill that, I have tried to tell the story briefly in English and through images for the convenience of other speakers."

Days are unproductive, every scenes seem to be written by another hand, inevitable. Days like these call for new work, but hands seem tied.
Not aiming to stand out creatively in the crowd anymore, just need to feed my inner soul now.

Few months ago, I started the series and started collecting donation for the communities affected the most in this lockdown. In return, I illustrated on people's picture who were donating. But later along with covid, there came the Amphan cyclone causing extreme damage to the vulnerable communities out there. So , I collected the donation in phases and still sending to various places wherever it's needed.

Well, I can say, one big reason for working on this cause was to calm myself, not feeling guilty and helpless about not being able to be there for the people who need a shoulder at this difficult hour. I succeeded in that, the joy I felt after sending money to places is worth any stress. I worked day and night to deliver all these works to people at the same time dealing with my master studies, exams and submissions. But I couldn't complain, not for a single moment, it made people happy from both sides. Let's say, this was my own way of dealing with the pandemic and show myself how art can fight pandemic too.

In total, 26 illustrations were completed in 2.5 months, around BDT 50,000 amount of donation was raised.
