Dell 3542 motherboard received with a short graphic chip. In order to convert the laptop into non graphic we had to remove the chip as well.

Pro Tip: Capturing a 32.768kHz Clock Signal on your DSO

​Are you troubleshooting a "no power" or "RTC not working" issue on a motherboard? Chances are, you need to verify the critical 32.768kHz Real-Time Clock (RTC) oscillator.

​To get a clean, stable waveform like the one shown in 7038.jpg on your Owon XDS3102A, here are the essential DSO settings you need to dial in:

​Channel 1 Settings (Vertical):

​Vertical Scale: Look at the bottom-left corner of 7038.jpg. The setting is 20.0mV/div (Yellow). This is crucial for small-signal oscillators; if your scale is too high (e.g., 1V/div), the signal will just look like a flat line.

​Coupling: set to DC (as shown in the menu bar).

​Horizontal Settings (Time Base):

​Time/Div: This is the most important setting for frequency. To see multiple stable cycles of a 32kHz signal, you need to set your horizontal scale to roughly 10µs/div (visible in the bottom-left of the screen).

​Trigger Settings:

​Source: Channel 1 (CH1).

​Level: Set to approximately 5mV (slightly positive) to capture the rising edge of the signal.

​Mode: Auto or Normal.

​By setting your scope to 20mV per division vertically and 10 microseconds per division horizontally, you should be able to verify if your quartz crystal is oscillating correctly.

​Note: Clock signals for RTCs are often sine waves or distorted sine waves, not the perfect square waves you might expect from other logic clocks. This is normal behavior for this circuit.
