A quote that most of us are familiar with.
And just being surrounded with like-minded people
can make a huge difference in terms of achieving goals.
And why mindset is everything to achieve goals. May it be in getting clients, hitting income goal or minimum level of engagement.
Which is why this coming Friday,

Freelance Tips Monday #3

I received this question multiple times:
Do I really need to offer FREE work to get clients?
And my answer to this question is
It depends how you define FREE work.
Kasi kelangan natin i-consider that there are 2 forms of payment:
- Attention
- Money
And personally, I don't really give FREE work.
I always ask clients to either pay me with their attention or money.
Now, you're probably asking, pano ko to ma-aapply Errol?
So gawa tayo ng mga scenario:
Things to ask before agreeing to this:
- What sort of payment does the client want to give you (attention or money)?
- How can you ensure that the client will really value your work?
Scenario 1:
Clients wants you to work for free in exchange of exposure daw (LOL.)
What you can do:
Instead of just accepting a shoutout / exposure.
Ask the client if it would be fair if they could refer you to at least 3 people on their network that would need your service. And in exchange you'll work on their project for free.
What this does is it filters clients who are really serious in giving you exposure.
And because there's a form of effort on their end, they'll also value what you'll deliver.
Yep, Giving You Referral is a payment form = Attention.
Scenario 2:
Clients wants to work with you but is just hesitant because you lack experience and portfolio.
What you can do:
Instead of offering the work for free just to be able to build your folio & experience.
Give the client a discount or foot-in-the-door pricing for you to earn their business.
What this does is it will allow you to build your confidence while learning the skill, build data on how much to charge the next time, and lastly, you'll attract clients who are not cheap.

How this designer was able to negotiate his hourly rate from 4.80usd/hr to being able to charge 15usd/hr.

And the best part
😁 More FREE time sya.
😁 In-encourage pa sya ng client nya to Freelance (which others wouldn't want)
😁 6hrs a day lang yung work nya - that's $1,980 per month that he's earning.

This coming Friday (April 16, 2021)

We'll know his story and how he was able to negotiate his hourly rate to being higher.
