The first step is ALWAYS the hardest of it all, and here I am again. But, hey at least I'm still SHOWING UP and that's what MATTERS.
I KNOW, I know this is like what.. the SECOND rebranding of this page. BUT why do businesses do that?
I remember going to the mall and I'm so used to the Old Dunkin' Donut logo. That time I didn't know yet that they were rebranding their brand so in my mind I needed to find the old logo so that I knew where their store was located. But when I saw their store I saw the new face of the brand... not the KPOP Idols haha but the name changed to only DUNKIN without the word DONUTS in it. And the reason for that is for them to attract new customers and also help communicate the company's new direction and values to customers and brand partners.
Good for them because they already know what their brand stands for and their values so it's up to the visuals to embody it. But when you're a small business and you're just in the FIRST STAGE of creating your brand it’s REALLY HARD to decide on what you want your brand to portray. I’ve seen a lot of stories of business owners wanting their brand to be all of the adjectives that they can think of.
You’ll hear something on the lines of “Oh, I want it to look like this and like that but also this and that but not too this and that… and so on”... you’re gonna have a hard time creating a brand if you really don’t know or haven’t decided yet on what it portrays, what are the values your brand stands for and who your TARGET MARKET is because that will be the foundation of your brand.
SO… My advice to small business owners TAKE TIME and SIT DOWN to think about these things because it will really, really help you a lot in building your brand.
