1.5 million illegal views.

That’s how many people streamed the new Demon Slayer movie without paying a cent.

Now picture this: What if every one of those views had been a paid movie ticket?

🎟️ In the Philippines, the average cinema ticket is about ₱411. Multiply that by 1.5 million, and the result? More than ₱600 million in lost box office earnings—around $11 million just vanished.

Now here's where it really hits:

An animator at Ufotable—the studio behind those stunning scenes—typically earns between ₱23,000 and ₱71,000 a month. Some even less. Many work freelance, with no health benefits, no stable income, and zero job security.

Now think: with ₱600 million, you could cover 2,000 years’ worth of animator salaries. That kind of money could bankroll more seasons, new films, and help hire more artists. It could give animators the financial dignity they deserve.

But instead, that money disappeared into the shadowy corners of piracy.

And what message does that send to the people crafting the worlds we love?

“That masterpiece you made? It’s not worth paying for.”

We cheer for anime. We wear the merch, memorize the lines, flood our feeds with screenshots. But when we pirate the content, we undercut the very creators behind it.

No ticket sales? Studios lose money.
No money? Animators go unpaid.
No animators? The magic stops. Shows get canceled. Studios shut down.

If we want these stories to keep coming—to experience that next heart-wrenching arc or epic battle—we need to do our part.

Pay for the ticket. Stream through legit platforms. Support the industry that inspires you.

Because behind every breathtaking frame is someone who skipped sleep just to make you feel something.

Support anime. Not just as fans. But as people who respect the craft.

So there can be another movie. Another season. Another dream brought to life.

---I will watch this on cinema.
