We at Codecert think that the recent massive data leak of LinkedIn, where reportedly data of 700 million users was compromised, was a badly designed APIs system. It was not a direct breach of their servers but rather a service they offer called the "Recruiter" profile, could have been the target. Hackers only figured out a way how to misuse this service and thereby get millions of users' data. However, it's still a good idea to change your LinkedIn passwords and enable 2 factor authentication for your account.
