There are periods when serious work costs too much. I think about painting a dozen times a day — but I stop at sketches and quick watercolors. Anything deeper is beyond me right now.

What remains is the journal. Daily writing, travel notes, things collected along the way. I have masses of them and each one means something.

I was so looking forward to this trip. Reality turned out different. But I have my things with me — and the people I need most.

In the photo: part of the kit I always carry. A fountain pen, Caran d’Ache Neocolor II Aquarelles, a Roman Szmal Aquarius palette - urban journaling set from USk Symposium Poznań 2025, washi tapes, a glue roller. And scissors — yes, big ones, slightly impractical, but they cut beautifully. Slowly looking for something more compact - suggestions welcome.

If you’d like to see more of my travel kit - let me know.

Chelsea Flower Show is one of those places where you realise that gardening is an art form — as much as painting or sculpture. Every garden designed with mood, history, emotion in mind. Details that take your breath away. 🌿

You come for botanical inspiration. You stay to witness what people can do with an inexhaustible amount of passion.
Crowds — much like flowers — everywhere. But worth it. 🌸

Currently studying botanical illustration with the Society of Botanical Artists — and places like this remind me exactly why.

Spoiler: the problems are still there. Every single one of them. But there’s something about putting pen to paper — especially when there’s a leaf to draw and sky to look at — that makes me feel like I’m at least in the same room as them, instead of running. If you’ve ever tried nature journaling, you know exactly what I mean.

Turns out you don’t need a full palette to paint autumn. Just sepia, water, and a very cooperative ornamental gourd.

Monochrome studies are my favourite exercise in restraint — letting value do all the work colour usually steals the credit for. This ornamental gourd in sepia taught me a thing or two about patience. As usual.

Dozens of notebooks tested. Still no number one. Pens, on the other hand — easy. I love them all equally, no matter the price tag. Right now I’m deep in a scented ink phase: yesterday cocoa, today violets. Would I fill my nicer pens with them? Absolutely not. But that violet ink? Writing with it feels like a small, unnecessary luxury — and I mean that as the highest compliment.

Dicentra spectabilis — the beloved bleeding heart.
A flower that looks almost unreal, with its delicate heart-shaped blossoms suspended like tiny lanterns along arching stems.

There is such a quiet joy in returning to daily painting again.
These small moments with watercolor and my journal bring so much calm to my mind — as if they gently clear away all the noise and doubts that stand in the way of creating.

Lately I’ve been working on several beautiful projects, exploring new techniques, learning, experimenting, and slowly finding new paths in my art.
And I’m so excited that in just a few days, I’ll finally be able to share some of them with you. ✨

A study of the root of bleeding heart (Dicentra spectabilis) — observing texture, form, and the quiet complexity hidden beneath the soil.
This botanical illustration focuses on the natural structure of the plant through watercolor and graphite, combining close observation with botanical drawing and process-based study.

Work in progress ✨

Currently working on a botanical illustration assignment — which means I’ve been taking flowers apart with a scalpel, squinting at stamens through a magnifying glass, and genuinely getting emotional about o***y cross-sections.
There’s something very grounding about having to slow down and actually look at a plant. Not glance at it. Look.
More soon. 🌿
