We began with the support of the MIT Media Lab Refugee Learning Accelerator, and are growing driven by our shared vision to empower our patients and physicians with Hikma – the Arabic term for healing wisdom. We partner with nonprofit organizations providing healthcare in underserved and refugee populations. We create c

ustomized data systems for these healthcare providers to improve patient outcomes. We analyze health data to support delivery of personalized healthcare to refugees. Climate change is already shaping health —
but our health systems don’t reflect it yet.

In the communities we serve, environmental factors like heat, air quality, and water safety are major drivers of illness — but they’re rarely captured in clinical systems.

We just published a paper exploring a new idea:
Health & Environmental Record Systems (HERS) — integrating environmental data into health records to support more proactive, climate-informed care.

This is a step toward more equitable health systems in a changing climate.

Across many of the places Hikma Health works, Ramadan shapes daily routines, clinic schedules, medication timing, and how care is delivered.

Sarah brings over a decade of experience in global health, digital innovation, and nonprofit leadership. Since 2021, she has led Hikma Health’s Year of Migrant Health initiative (now the Care Innovation Grant), helping scale our open-source EHR system to frontline clinics in 21 countries.

Hikma Health builds resilient digital infrastructure for health systems serving displaced and underserved populations. With Sarah’s deep commitment to health equity and locally-led partnerships, we’re excited to enter a new chapter of growth and impact.
